Recent upgrade from server2016 to 22, When logged in as admin, edge edge://compat/iediagnostic shows IE working and API ver19 When logged in as non admin user, same server, different session, it shows IE not working, and ver13. IE crashes and says reinstall as admin. Reinstalling edge as admin seems to temporarily fix it, I can log in as non admin, and it shows ver19 and IE works, but then its like it updates something, because it reverts to ver13 and IE crashes again... I have set GP to use IE mode, and set siteslist for IE and Edge GPs, reinstalled edge many times, can not seem to fix this.110Views0likes1CommentPolicy needed: "Go to an intranet site for a one-word entry in the Address bar"
For enterprise a policy like the one in IE called "Go to an intranet site for a one-word entry in the Address bar" is very needed. As an enterprise we have a lot of intranet sites and services using one-word hostnames and abreviations like "mc", "servicedesk" etc. that our users are used to just being able to type in their browser. In Edge that will just launch a search on Google or Bing instead. Teaching the users to type http:// every time is nearly impossible and not very user friendly. We use the policy in IE, but it sadly never came to Edge. It would be great if it could be added to the new Edge (Chromium) admx.Solved20KViews9likes53CommentsEdge: How to remove the notice Is in Internet explorer mode.
We have corporate apps for Explorer 11 that we're testing with Edge compatibility mode. Every time a new window opens with window.open a bar appears at the top indicating that "It's in Internet Explorer mode. Most pages will work best in Microsof Edgge. [Open in Microsoft Edge] Learn more X" They are web management applications, if at first I have put that the indicated domain runs in IE mode, we do not want that every time we open a window we ask it again. Is there any possibility to set this up?2.6KViews1like1CommentEdge Chromium doesn't import ALL favorites from IE
Hello, We are making the migration for our users from IE to Edge Chromium and have the GPO in place "Automatically import another browser's data and settings at first run" to import the Favorites from IE into Edge Chromium. We do this since we manage the favorites, and it's easier for us to drag/drop/change extensions in the Favorites folder of our Mandatory Profiles as the favorites will change from time to time. Alongside the internet shortcuts (.url) are .ppt/.pptx and .pdf files we drop in the favorites for ease of access. We also do this because we disable access to File Explorer for these terminal users. We found that only the .url extensions are copying over into Edge. We also noticed that Edge does not import folders recursively, as we have folders within folders at the root that do not transfer over. I have attached an example of our setup. In IE you can see our three folders, within 'folder 1' I have three subfolders, a .PDF, a .PPTX, and an internet shortcut to Google.com. Next we'll import the browser data from IE After the import, only folders with found content in it are transferred over. Recursive folders are not copied and even 'Test Folder 2' and 'Test Folder 3' were not transferred since they were empty of content. We found that no extension outside of .URL would copy over into Edge. For testing, we successfully added the .pptx and .pdf files manually. The PDF opens in Edge and even though the .pptx does not open, Edge still asks us what we would like to do with it. Is there a way we can transfer all of the contents from IE into Edge Chromium currently with a GPO? Or will this be a feature added in a future release? For enterprise that deny access to File Explorer for security reasons this is one of the few options we've relied on in the past with IE. Thank you. Microsoft is ending support for Adobe Flash Player on Microsoft Edge (new and legacy) and Internet Explorer 11 at the end of 2020. Here's what you need to know: https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2020/09/04/update-adobe-flash-end-support/ Key highlights: In the new Microsoft Edge, Adobe Flash Player will be removed by January 2021. The schedule of changes is available here. After December 2020, you will no longer receive a “Security Update for Adobe Flash Player” from Microsoft that applies to Microsoft Edge Legacy and Internet Explorer 11. In the second half of 2021, the APIs, group polices and user interfaces that specifically govern the behavior of Adobe Flash Player will be removed from Microsoft Edge (legacy) and Internet Explorer 11 via the latest “Cumulative Update” on Windows 10 platforms and via “Cumulative Update for Internet Explorer 11” or “Monthly Rollup” on Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Embedded 8 Standard.5.6KViews7likes10CommentsMS Teams External Meeting - IE to Edge redirection
Hi, Recently moved to Chromium Edge 80.0.361.54 (Official build) (64-bit), with IE11 remaining as default browser. We only use the browser client for MS Teams. Upon receiving the hyperlink to an External Teams meeting, I click and it opens in IE11 and asks to open in Edge - all fine so far. However, whene clicking the link to re-direct us to Edge, it just loads are Internal Edge channels as doesn't join the meeting. If I copy the hyperlink directly from the invite and paste into Edge, it works fine. Changing default browser is not currently an option (this also fixes the issue though). It also worked fine with legacy Edge browser It appears to be an issue passing the link through from IE to Edge Any ideas?2.2KViews0likes4CommentsIs the Stream Video Embed fixed with IE?
I've been searching for a solution with Stream embedded videos not loading or throwing an error when I try to load the SharePoint page with IE 11. When I recently opened up a page with IE it worked without any issues and many coworkers have confirmed that it just started working properly. Our IT department claims to have not changed anything to make this possible so can anyone confirm that this was fixed by Microsoft? The reason I ask is that I plan to embed multiple Stream videos if the above issue has been resolved. Thanks!Opening first session of Internet Explorer from application bar icon does IE flashes and don't start
Some of my users since few weeks have a very particular problem with Internet Explorer. From IE closed, clicking the icon on the taskbar makes a flash as if it opens for a moment and then closes. Often from the second click IE opens correctly. We also have a web application that works with Java for which there is a desktop icon in the C:\Users\Public\Desktop folder. This icon calls 32-bit IE "C:\Program Files(x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" by passing it the address to open and a parameter. Double clicking on this icon often shows the attached message. I noticed that with IE closed the message appears and often if there is already an open IE session the application opens correctly. Made all the evidence that came to my mind but without solving the problem: • IE reset • Deleted IE temporary files • Performed SFC / ScanNow • Restarted PC Trying to access the same PC with another user, this problem does not occur. I would like to avoid deleting the user's profile because it would mean reconfiguring everything. Could it be a profile problem or corrupt regedit? Has anyone ever stumbled upon this problem? How can I solve? Thank you.865Views0likes1CommentIs it possible to "nest" Blink and IE Mode frames?
Hi there. This is almost certainly a gigantic stretch but I figured it was worth asking. Consider a hypothetical page where the top-level frame (that is, the page referred to in the address bar) is not in the IE mode list. If this page contains an iframe whose target is a page that does come from this list will it be loaded in IE mode or will it run in Blink? Conversely, if the top-level page is run in IE mode but contains an iframe whose origin would ordinarily be loaded in Blink does that iframe run in IE mode or in Blink? I'm assuming this is done at the tab level (and therefore neither scenario is possible) but I would be thrilled to be wrong about this. I ask because I am presently in the process of migrating an application from an old, internally-developed toolkit that is only (officially) supported in IE to Angular, with the intention of dropping IE support altogether. Presently we're accomplishing this by running the Angular-ized portion out of an iframe. This 'does this thing', if you will, but Angular performs extremely poorly in IE and the old toolkit is very "here be dragons" in newer browsers. This has left us in sort of a 'pick your poison' situation until the migration is complete. The old toolkit also includes a few ActiveX controls (that will ultimately be mothballed) that are seldom used and only used by a small slice of our longest users but said users find these controls to be extremely important. If a proper IE mode configuration allows us to make the IE/Blink distinction invisible to Joe User this would significantly cut down our workload. As a final note/question, we don't really have much other than these controls left to migrate so I'm certainly open to other suggestions with regards keeping the ActiveX controls somewhat available while running the application proper in Blink. Perhaps there's a way to spawn a new IE mode window and we do all the ActiveX stuff that way?1.4KViews1like1CommentEdge insider Dev bypasses IE mode website list
