Highlighted Content
23 TopicsHighlighted content: show text when no items are found
Hi everyone, On a communications page in Sharepoint Online, I've build a document system with highlighted content (next to the regular document library). In the picture below, you'll find four different types of files: 'General', 'Documents', 'Work Instructions' and 'Procedures'. In this particular page there are no Work Instructions and no Procedures for this business process. Normally, when there are no items found, Sharepoint will show 'Title' three times (as below work instructions). What I want is Sharepoint to show the text that is under 'Procedure', (Text in Dutch means 'there are no items found to be shown'). I only get this text when I check 'hide webpart if there is nothing to be shown', in the webpart settings. Then save the page, uncheck it and then save the page and refresh. If I refresh again, then there will be a blank column left, which I find ugly. Question: is there any out-of-the-box way toalways show this text when there is no document available in the library? Thanks! Walter1.2KViews0likes1CommentHighlighted Content: "Show title and commands" Toggle Switch Not Working
Hi, I've been building my second SharePoint, and have run into what I can only assume is a bug. I have liked using "Highlighted Content" as a way to limit the number of documents to 1, and switching off "Show title and commands" so it shows the user only the document they need, and doesn't allow them to explore all the other documents uploaded on the site, by clicking "See all". As mentioned I have already built a site before and so have never ran into this problem until now, as it historically has always worked, but the toggle switch to turn on or off "Show title and commands" is not working at all. In my case, I cannot switch it off, which of course is a bug of some kind, and is happening for members of my team too. So I know it's a bug for more than one admin using the site, I have tested this issue on another page, and another site entirely to which it failed to work. I also used another web part "News" to see whether it would present the same issue, as it also includes this toggle switch, which it didn't and the switch worked. Which means it could just be this web part. I really don't think there's answer for this, and this is more of a report the bug kind of deal, but any comments of support are welcome! Hi all. I am wondering if there is a way to replicate the site selection functionality of the old Content Query web part, with the Highlighted content web part or something similar. With the old CQ part you could select the site you want to pull from and then filter from there. With Highlighted Content it doesn't give you the option to select another site to pull from, it's only within the current site. Is there anyway to pull in content from another site - and then filter it like you would with Highlighted Content? Thanks all. dB.1.3KViews0likes3CommentsHighlighted content web part not showing videos
Where do video files need to be stored (what type of library or list) and of what file type or content type do they need to be to be picked up by the highlighted content web part when it is set to show only content of type Video in the site collection? I have used an assets library and mp4 files. They files play fine in the app itself, but the highlighted content web part is not showing them when I configure it to show Video files. (I do see that the files are being indexed as I can get them showing if I ask the web part to for example show content added today, so my question is more related to the query applied by the web part not really working for me.)6.1KViews0likes8CommentsHighlighted Content Webpart filtering as "or" instead of "and" with multiple metadata filters
Hi All, I am trying to set up a Highlighted content webpart so that I can pull through specific documentation into a communication site view for end users to access. The idea behind this is that our training team has all the training documents in their document library, each document is tagged with "Finance, Compliance, IT" etc. What we want to do is surface onto a "Finance Page" all of the "Finance Training" documents in one webpart, and in another, all of the "Finance Policy" documents. So we have set up as follows: Training document library contains all training docs Each document is tagged with their function (e.g. finance) Each document is tagged with "Training Document" Compliance document library contains all policy docs Each document is tagged with their function (e.g. finance) Each document is tagged with "Policy Document" Now I have set up crawled and managed properties etc. So I can display in the Highlighted Content webpart all documents tagged with "Finance" I can also display all documents tagged with "Training Document" What I want to do now is bring through all documents that are tagged "Finance" AND "Training Document". However the Highlighted Content Webpart, when I put these two filters in, bring through any documents that are tagged with "Finance" and any documents that are tagged with "Training Document" so I am bringing through all the Finance Policy Documents and the IT Training Documents. Am I doing something wrong, is this the intended behaviour? Will we be able to select an "and/or" filter soon? Seems crazy that this isn't working for managed metadata (because it works as expected when you use the "Title contains" filter!) Thanks for any help! Hello Community! I am looking to create a video archive that is using the new 365 Stream experience. It was suggested to use the Highlighted Content web part to display the videos. But, I am struggling to get the thumbnails to properly display. I have set up the thumbnails in the new Stream using the Video Settings but it does not reflect that in the Highlighted Content web part when I am in the Filmstrip, Grid or Compact views (which all display thumbnails). But, it works in the Carousel view - so I know that the thumbnail was properly added. What am I missing? I want the SharePoint site to look professional as they browse through multiple videos but I can't seem to get the thumbnails to display properly.761Views0likes0CommentsHow to sort Highlighted Content by Date Created
I'm using Highlighted Content to provide a list of documents in a directory using Filter to show items that have Active in the Status column. This way, regardless of the number of nested folders an item may be in, anything with Active in Status will appear in this Highlighted Content web part (a VERY useful feature!!). Currently, it's sorted by Most Recent but I want to sort by Date Created. As we acquire new documents, they should appear at the top of the list (provided Active is set in Status). The issue with sorting by Most Recent is that this is putting the most recent MODIFIED documents at the top of Highlighted Content. Is there a way to build a Custom Query to sort by Date Created?Solved7KViews0likes5Comments"Highlighted Content" Web Part Columns to Show/Hide
Hey All, Right now when I use the"Highlighted Content" web part, it includes the file type, Title, Modified and Modified By columns. Is there any way to choose which columns to show (or hide)? I'd like to just show the file type and Title columns. Thanks. ScottSolved3.7KViews2likes3CommentsHow to get the thumbnail in the highlighted content web part refreshed
Hi. Does anyone know how to get the thumbnails in the modern highlighted content web part refreshed after having updated the thumbnail for site pages? It seems to stick with the thumbnail that was grabbed at the creation of the individual pages (even if it is the standard thumbnail for no selected header). Is the only way to have all site pages re-created and add the images at creation? Thanks, Magnus1.4KViews1like1CommentManaged properties missing from web part "Highlighted Content"
I am trying to use the Highlighted Content web part to show a list of pages in the Page Library, filtered on a site column I created. But there is no option to select "Managed property" in the filter drop-down. Page property is there, but it only shows the Title property. Is this a bug or a feature?695Views0likes0Comments
