Document ID
5 TopicsAre there any cons to using Document IDs?
We are looking to use Document IDs where I work to make renaming/moving files/folders less painful. We've never activated this feature in our SharePoint, and wanted to know if there are any cons to doing so. From our perspective, it looks like a perfect tool! Is there a place that documents pros and cons, or are there experienced users that can share any negative unintended consequences with me before we get running with Document IDs in our organization?1.9KViews0likes1CommentNo documents with the ID XXX were found in this site collection
I found a few threads that posts the same problem but no solution. This problem started about 4 weeks ago back in June. I am having issues opening pdf documents in the document library (cloud site) which was migrated from an on-premise site. The results in the No documents with the ID XXX were found in this site collection, when browsing using the Get a Link in SharePoint Online document library. The document appears in the search result and I can see the preview. However on click of the document ID we get the directed to the URL: domain.sharepoint.com/sites/Manufacturing/_layouts/15/DocIdRedir.aspx?ID=MFGID-2-80427 and No documents with the ID XXX-2-80427 were found in this site collection. This is where we see the ID. Also using the Get a Link option for the document. All of us face this issue even admin users. Document ID service is activated on this site collection. I do not want to do a reset document ID because I need to preserve the original document ID when we migrated the files. I've started a ticket with Microsoft but wondering if anyone else has the same problem.Solved9.7KViews0likes20CommentsDocument ID feature and Microsoft Teams based sites
Hello everyone, I can't enable the feature "Document ID" on a site created via Teams or a "Team site." It only works with sites created via SharePoint. Does anyone manage to activate the Document ID feature on a Site created via Teams? Thanks for your help, GustavoSolved5KViews0likes1CommentSPO and Document ID Service (Bug, Communications site and what's coming?)
Hi, Issue: In SPO (Modern) I have found an issue with the Document ID service when subsites are present. Enabling the feature on a site with sub-sites doesn't create the Document ID field and the "Begin IDs with the following characters" setting under the Document ID Settings is empty. Removing the subsites and reactivating the feature solves it and creating subsites post activation the Document ID service works fine on the subsites as well. I'm aware on the recommendation on avoiding subsites as far as possible but still this is an issue that needs attention. This leads to my next questions... ...Looking at the Document ID service feature it hasn't been rebuilt/reworked for the "new" SharePoint which makes me wonder if there are any pitfalls and issues enabling the feature on Communications sites today? Besides, are there any plans to modernize the Document ID service to fit the modern SP and work better cross site collections or what's coming around this feature? Hi. I have a requirement to display the Document ID column value in a Document Template that is used across different site collections in SharePoint Online. The Document ID service is enabled for all site collections. If I add the Quick Part in Word for the Document ID on the template, it only works for document created from the template in that Site Collection, however I need it to work in multiple collections. I currently have other custom SharePoint properties working by adding them to a new content type in the content type hub, however I can't seem to add Document ID to this content type. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Solved7.2KViews0likes5Comments
