Distribution Group
30 TopicsCalendar of a Distribution Group in new Outlook
We have a Distribution Group in O365, which contains all members of a team. When you add this Distribution Group to the calendar, you can see the calendar of each team member. This way the admin can just update the Distribution Group with new team members, and everyone has gets the updated list of calendars. In the current Outlook you need to disable "Turn on shared calendar improvements" for this to work as described https://blog.icewolf.ch/archive/2023/06/22/outlook-calendar-you-cant-add-distribution-list-to-calendar-group/. But in the "new" Outlook I can't add the calendars via the Distribution Group, and the option from the "old" Outlook is gone. Does anyone have a solution for this?7.6KViews4likes2CommentsReply to sender of group message, not entire group.
Hello I've searched for this and all I can find is the opposite of what I wish to do. At present, we have distribution groups set up in our Office 365 tenancy. When someone sends a message to a group the group address is selected and the message created and a copy of the message is sent to every member of that group. However, when replying, the group address automatically populates the To: field. This is undesirable as sometimes a group message is used to request information, and if someone replies and does not realise the group address is being replied to, potentially sensitive information will be sent to every member of the group. Is there a way to configure this so that the Outlook (and Outlook on the Web) reply button replies to the sender - i.e. the person whom the message was sent by, and the sender that is shown in the Inbox/folder when the message is closed? Or, if that is not possible, is there a way to configure those applications (so that Reply presents a choice between replying to the group or just to the original sender? Thank you.16KViews1like3CommentsRoute external emails via nested distribution list
Good day, I have a use case which requires that emails sent from an e-fax provider (three separate e-fax numbers) get routed to the correct team distribution list. I've created three distribution lists which I've hidden from the GAL named: Team 1 Fax Team 2 Fax Team 3 Fax Within the Team Fax distribution lists I've set them to only accept messages from the address that the e-fax records will be sent from. I also already have team distribution lists for each team used for standard team communications: Team 1 DL Team 2 DL Team 3 DL These distribution lists are configured to only accept mail from internal senders. Within the Team Fax distribution lists, I have added the Team distribution lists as members so: Name: Team 1 Fax Members: Team 1 DL Name: Team 2 Fax Members: Team 2 DL Name: Team 3 Fax Members: Team 3 DL The issue that I am encountering is that when a message is received from the e-fax provider, the team fax distribution lists receives it just fine. However, when it in turn attempts to send to the Team distribution list a message trace shows that the send failed because those distribution lists are only able to receive emails from internal senders. I had assumed that because the e-fax message was being passed to the distribution list but the Team Fax distribution list the message would be considered at that point in time as being from an internal sender. Am I off base in terms of what I am trying to apply here and if so can anyone provide any guidance on how best to accomplish this? I do not want the team distribution lists to receive messages from external senders yet I need to be able to pass the e-fax messages to them by Team and do not want the teams to have separate inboxes as a group or shared mailbox would require. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!2.4KViews1like1CommentAutomatic Replies being returned when sending to All Users Dynamic Distribution Group as of July
Hello, It appears that recently this month a change has occurred somewhere that is causing messages sent out to All Users a Dynamic Distribution Group, to received Automatic Replies from those that have it active. We have several old accounts still active with Auto Replies setup for informational purposes. This has not been an issue prior to July. The last several years we have used the ALL Users for company wide announcements and information. Can anyone attest to similar issues with their All Users Dynamic Group? Is anyone aware of any changes pushed out recently in Office 365 that could have caused this or is there a way for us to disable the receipt of the Auto replies when sending messages to a Dynamic Group? Thanks in advance.Solved2.6KViews1like4CommentsStruggling with hybrid send as permissions for distribution group
Hi, We are in the middle of moving over to Exchange online from an Exchange 2010 organisation. We have AD connect working ok and office 365 is integrated to a certain degree. Mail flow is working correctly between on premises and online however, we still have email coming in to our org and then being passed to Exchange online plus sending email is coming from online through our org then out to the internet. We have moved over all our users pretty much to online now and repointed their outlook clients. All seemed to be ok however, we have a wierd issue with a distribution group that was created pre the move. This is probably the same issue for all our distribution groups I am am guessing. basically, a user wants send as permissions for the DG. I have added the permissions on our exchange 2010 server through powershell and also checked in the security permissions of the distribution group object in AD. It is there. however, the user cannot send emails on behalf of the distribution group. She has an online mailbox. I forced a sync in AD connect but still no luck. In exchange online, I can see the distribution group but the send as permissions are not in the grant delegation area. I suspect that this is not supported but i dont now how to fix it. If anyone has any insights or ideas please let me know. We have not moved fully to Azure AD so on premises is readwrite and online AD is read only. thanks in advance for any help!
