Hi All, I have recently created few channels for our team in my organization. But unlike the group chat, the channels doesn't have a read receipt feature for the post we share in the channel. So I have searched for same google & found the following link by Microsoft team to upvote to get this feature. https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/7412bc3f-272e-ec11-b6e6-00224827bbc2 So if you find this feature to be available, please comment & upvote the same. An update coming soon increases the channel limit for regular and shared channels to 1,000. That should be enough Teams channels for anyone. Then again, a case can be argued that 25 channels should be enough to organize discussions for any team. In any case, you’re going to have the opportunity soon to create channels to your heart’s content. That is, until you reach the 1000-channel; limit. https://office365itpros.com/2023/07/26/teams-channel-1000/543Views2likes0CommentsNot receiving notifications from channels (banner or feed) since following/favorites was removed
We aren't receiving any notifications (banner or feed) from our channel posts - even though in the channel notification settings, I've enabled Banner and Feed for new posts (including all replies) and channel mentions. It seems this functionality might have been lost after the move away from following/favourites, and I can't find any solution to it in the forums etc that is relevant to the new functionality. The only way I can trigger a notification is to @ the channel name itself in the post to the channel, which is not ideal. Am I missing a global setting that is suppressing these notifications (I've checked all admin centre settings and can't see anything), or is this a bug?4.5KViews1like6CommentsMicrosoft Makes Another Change to Teams Channel Email Storage Location
In January 2025, Microsoft changed the SharePoint folder location to store copies of the email sent to Teams channels. Apparently, this update improved security, but it’s unclear exactly how the improvement comes about unless through obscurity. In any case, we missed this change completely and are publishing this note to remind everyone else of the importance of reading message center posts. https://office365itpros.com/2025/11/13/email-sent-to-teams-channels/64Views1like0CommentsTeams Channels Get Threaded Layout
Many Teams users love to use group chats as a way to get work done. Group chats are effective, but the information shared in chats ends up in personal OneDrive accounts. To help switch people back to channel conversations, Teams has a new threaded layout to make conversations behave much like chats. The new layout works well for some channels but not for others. https://practical365.com/teams-threaded-layout/108Views1like0CommentsTeams to Begin Automatically Hiding Inactive Channels
From mid-July 2024, Teams will begin hiding inactive channels for users. The inactive channels can be unhidden, and users can opt out of the automatic process. The new clean up routine can be invoked whenever users want and if a mistake is made, it’s easy to unhide a channel. Given the number of channels in use, it’s likely that a few in everyone’s channel list are inactive and deserve to be hidden. https://office365itpros.com/2024/07/03/teams-inactive-channels/25KViews1like29CommentsSend new Team members personal channel meeting invites automatically
Similar to this Post, but for Teams. Regarding the Send Person Invite feature. It will send a personal invite to current Team members, but not to Team members invited after the invitation was sent. We have to resend or update the invite for it send and invite. It also does not appear on their calendar either. Why do we need to send updated meeting invites?2.1KViews1like0CommentsTeams Private and Shared Channels Get Support for Tags
Teams Tags Support for Private and Shared Channels should arrive in targeted tenants soon. The new tag capability uses channel memberships instead of the team roster. It’s a small but useful change, as is the option to start a chat with tagged members. On the downside, Microsoft is deprecating suggested tags. But on the upside, you can include emojis in tag names. https://office365itpros.com/2024/02/22/teams-tags-channels/1.1KViews1like0Comments
