CSP partners should migrate customers with commercial legacy subscriptions to new commerce now, before Microsoft-led migrations begin in 2024 on customers’ renewal dates. Included also is an update on the plan for CSP Public Sector legacy migration to new commerce. Details As previously announced in July 2023,, Microsoft will begin migrating all Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) commercial subscriptions that remain in the legacy system to new commerce in January 2024. This migration includes CSP commercial offers being used by Government entities worldwide. All legacy subscriptions that Microsoft migrates to new commerce will be set to an annual term with the same billing plan and seat counts that the customers had in legacy. This Microsoft-led migration will occur on the date of subscription renewal, starting with all subscriptions set to renew in January 2024 and continuing throughout the 2024 calendar year. Partners will have seven days after migration is complete to change the subscription term, quantity or cancel the subscription if necessary. We recommend that partners manage their customers’ migrations now to ensure each customer has the terms that best suit their business needs. If customers want monthly subscription terms, partners should migrate them before the legacy subscriptions reach end of term in 2024. Most Microsoft 365, Office 365, Security and Dynamics 365 commercial offers are currently available in new commerce. Partners can find the current list of CSP legacy offers available for new commerce migration in the NCE Mapping tab of the legacy Offer Matrix document, which is in the Partner Center pricing workspace. Over the course of calendar year 2024, Microsoft will share the timeline for migration of all other remaining CSP legacy offers, including multi-year offers. Our intent is to ensure a Microsoft-led migration path for each CSP legacy offer at the time of customer renewal, starting with renewal dates in 2024 and beyond. Resources to help partners migrate customers to new commerce To support partners with their migration effort, Microsoft will run CSP Technical Training and CSP Spotlight calls in the months of November, and December. These sessions will give partners the opportunity to learn about migration details from Microsoft experts. Documentation is also available to assist partners who plan to drive their customers’ migrations themselves. Partners can review the Migrate subscriptions to new commerce article on Microsoft Learn and the other how-to documentation in the Resources section below, to complete customer migrations themselves. Next Steps Review the Legacy Offer Matrix document in Partner Center to determine if your customer subscriptions are available for migration. Take action before January 2024 to migrate your customers’ commercial legacy CSP subscriptions to new commerce. You can find how-to documentation here. This is especially important if your customers want monthly terms instead of annual terms. Learn how to use the batch migration (BAM) tool here. Starting next year, indirect resellers must have a minimum revenue amount to remain authorized to transact as Cloud Solution Providers. Beginning on April 1, 2024, existing, active indirect resellers must have a minimum of USD1,000 in trailing 12 months (TTM) CSP revenue (including Perpetual Software) at the reseller tenant level in each of the CSP regions in which they sell. The revenue requirement must be met annually, on the reseller’s tenant onboarding anniversary, to remain authorized to transact as a CSP. This requirement applies only to indirect resellers who onboarded to their CSP reseller tenant at least one year ago. In January 2024 Microsoft will begin sending an email notification to the tenant’s global admin(s) and the reseller’s indirect provider at 90, 60, and 30 days in advance of the tenant’s onboarding anniversary month if the tenant revenue is below USD1,000. The final notification, informing the reseller of their suspension from CSP, will be sent during that anniversary month. During that 90-day notification period, if the indirect reseller works with their indirect provider(s) to increase their revenue to at least USD1,000, they will no longer receive notifications and will meet the revenue requirement. Next steps Connect with your indirect provider(s) to work together on a plan to meet the revenue requirement. Learn more about the minimum indirect reseller revenue requirement. Questions Review the Cloud Solution Provider Guide to learn more about the indirect reseller revenue requirement as well as the indirect reseller requirements article on Microsoft Learn. Update on new commerce timeline for CSP GCC, education and nonprofit legacy offers In July, Microsoft announced that CSP legacy Public Sector offers for Government Community Cloud (GCC), education and nonprofit would be available in CSP new commerce in November 2023. However, we have received feedback from partners that making system changes at the end of the calendar year would be difficult. To avoid business disruption for partners, we will launch Public Sector offers in new commerce and begin Microsoft-led migrations of Public Sector offers in calendar year 2024. We will provide an update on the revised timeline for both launches soon. Next Steps: Take action before January 2024 to start migrating your customers to new commerce.
