One of our admin-managed add-ins (Adobe Sign) has gone AWOL from the ribbon of the Word desktop app recently (it still shows up in the web-app version of Word). One of the suggested troubleshooting steps is to check review the Office Add-ins from within the app itself. When doing so, I receive an error: Insert ribbon-->Add-ins section-->My Add-ins-->See all...-->Admin Managed "Cannot connect to catalog" I've tried: signing out, back in, clearing the Office cache, and redeploying the add-in from central management. The deployment always reports that it was successful. Can anyone else reproduce this "Cannot connect to catalog" issue, or suggest additional troubleshooting steps/workarounds?68KViews1like21CommentsHow to fix "upload pending" error message in Microsoft word
I dealt with this frustrating issue for over a year, but here's how you can fix it. Example image: How to fix: 1. Make sure Finder is open and all office apps are closed, including Microsoft Word. 2. Click on "GO" in the top bar. 3. Once the drop down menu descends, hold down the OPTION key on your keyboard. You'll see that a folder called "LIBRARY" appears. Click on "LIBRARY". 4. Once inside "LIBRARY", click on a folder called "CONTAINERS." 5. Scroll down until you find a folder called "com.microsoft.Word". 6. Once you've found it, delete "com.microsoft.Word" off your computer. 7. Now, reopen Microsoft Word, and make sure the upload pending error message is gone. It should be, and you should now be able to delete the file if you so choose. Also, if you're experiencing this problem with Excel and/or Powerpoint, you can probably fix it the same way. You'd just have to delete "com.microsoft.Excel" and/or "com.microsoft.Powerpoint" respectively, instead of "com.microsoft.Word". All the steps leading up to that would remain the same. I really hope this helps other people who are dealing with this problem. And if for some reason it doesn't work for you, reach out to Microsoft support while signed into your Microsoft account and get into a chat room. Chatting with a specialist was the only reason I was able to figure this out in the first place.30KViews0likes2CommentsNeed to disable 'do not check spelling or grammar' in Microsoft Word
When opening a Word document from an attachment, the 'do not check spelling or grammar' option is automatically enabled, and keeps re-enabling itself after being unchecked. This is not the case if opening a Word document locally on the machine. Is there a way to permanently disable the 'do not check...' option across the board? I have tried editing the registry, running quick and full repair on Office, verifying correct proofing tools are selected, highlighting all text in the document and unchecking the option5.8KViews0likes2CommentsBackspace doesn't control indent
Hi, I'm having this weird issue where Word won't let me remove an indent using backspace in certain scenarios. I have the "set left and first indent with tabs and backspaces" option turned on under the AutoFormat as you type turned on because it's convenient especially when I'm starting a new paragraph and it's already set to a first indent. My problem is that if, for example, I am on a new paragraph and I would like to remove the indent, backspace doesn't work at all, not only will it not change the indent but it won't even delete the new paragraph and seems to not do anything at all. The only way to remove the indent is to expand the paragraph setting and manually change the special indentation from "first" to "(none)" or use the ruler and drag the first line indentation point all the way over . To delete the new paragraph I have to select it and then hit back space or go to the end of the previous paragraph and hit delete key. I can't figure out for they life of me why it's doing this. Here's the part I find interesting; when if I go to the beginning of a paragraph containing text that has no special indentation and is set to "none" and then hit tab, it comes up with the little lighting bolt/auto-format box, and at that point I can hit backspace and it will remove the indent, but as soon as I change the insertion point, I can not put the insertion point back at the beginning of that paragraph and hit backspace, additionally the auto-format/lightning bolt box is no longer there. Also, if it has any significance, the auto-format/lightning bolt box only appears on the initial press of the tab key, not on any of the paragraphs following that one, I believe I remember that box showing up at the beginning of every new paragraph in the past. Does anyone know how to fix this? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!4.5KViews0likes2CommentsIs it possible to add one custom button of your add-in to the existing tab at the ribbon and one to
I'm trying to add 2 buttons to the different tabs in Word via XML Manifest, but now for me, it seems to be impossible. That's all because I can't add OfficeTab and CustomTab in ExtensionPoint with xsi:type="PrimaryCommandSurface". Are there any other possibilities to implement such an idea?4.1KViews0likes5CommentsInk Editor

You see, many of you Microsoft coders are foreigners, so allow me to first explain to you the concept of binder tabs. In America, we have things called binders, people use them in school and offices to keep documents organized. Within the binders are something called tabs, or dividers. These 'binder tabs' are colorful and are used for labeling purposes. It looks like these: They are used in the sense of bookmarks if you will, for the purpose of organization. As of now, here's what Word's bookmarks look like: The current bookmark toolbox is to the right of the document, It's small, it's bland, it's non-colorful. It looks boring. What I want done is what's to the left of the document, the arrow things, I want colorful tabs/bookmarks similar to binders. These should be floating so regardless of what page I am on, I can always click the arrow to go to the specified designated location with ease. So bookmarks/tabs that follow me up and down the word doc. This will make it similar to binders and their tab dividers. It looks better than the current bookmarks toolbox mechanism and much easier to use.2.3KViews0likes2Commentsdrag images doesn't follow the mouse path
Hello, Until yesterday, it was always easy for me to move images in Word. I could just click and drag, and the image would follow the path I was making with my mouse. However, since today this doesn't work anymore. I can still click and drag, but the images won't follow my mouse. This makes it really difficult to choose the correct position for my images. It is strange because if I group an image and a caption and then move the image in the group, it does follow my mouse. I suspect it has something to do with the anchor position, but I don't know how to switch this off. Word version = Version 2404 Build 16.0.17531.20140) How can I solve this issue? Thanks in advance. How can I solve this isse? Thanks in advance.1.8KViews0likes9CommentsDividing single word page onto some section?
Hello. I apologize for any confusion. I'm unsure if I'm using the correct wording, and I'm unable to find guidance on how to phrase it properly through a Google search. First, here's the document https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jm7HydmqPhTSmdRzF2MD9kD1MVv8TXO4/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=108277566935502146918&rtpof=true&sd=true In the first part of the documents, you will notice a resize-square that is quite useful. It allows me to conveniently move the tabulations (:) forward and backward as a whole, instead of manually using the tab and backspace keys one by one to adjust the positions. Please refer to the screenshot and screen recording below: And this is the screen record how do I demonstrate it https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Z-rcmLiinMYBhgjpDTz2DGjqeQ68Vsn-/view?usp=sharing Then, there's 2nd section, where it just a usual text, without any formatting in indent Similarly, in the third section, there is a similar functionality as in the first section. Instead of manually using tabs or spaces, I can simply resize to reposition the text. Additionally, I can adjust the spacing between the first line (Penerima & Pemberi) and the (.....) without having to manually press the enter button. All of this can be done using the resize button. Here's the screen record if you need it https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bOs58S5dc2i7_wk49OQPuGj5d2y5Q13q/view?usp=sharing Furthermore, all of these actions can be performed within a single page, eliminating the need for the page break function and resulting in three separate pages. Currently, the closest solution I have found is converting my text into an image. However, this method is not as effective as I had hoped.1.5KViews0likes12Comments
