When inserting citations, Word writes e.g. (Sørensen, Olesen, & Olesen, 2018) instead of (Sørensen et al., 2018).
Is there a setting to change this?

The citation tool in Word uses APA version 6. I believe the recommendations in the most recent version of APA makes more frequent use of "et al." You may have to use a third-party tool to get fully updated formats.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue:
Check EndNote Styles: First, ensure that your EndNote styles are up-to-date and that you have the APA 7th edition style installed. You can usually update styles through the EndNote program or by visiting the EndNote website.

Check Default Style in Word:
Check EndNote Preferences:
Manually Edit Citations:
Use Other Resources: If you encounter any further difficulties, you can refer to official resources or forums for assistance. The APA Style website (https://apastyle.apa.org/) often provides updates, and the EndNote community forums or support may offer valuable insights.

Remember, it's essential to stay updated with the latest versions of both APA style and EndNote to ensure compatibility. If problems persist, consider reaching out to your institution's IT support or the support teams of Microsoft Word and EndNote for personalized assistance.
I hope this helps!
