short cut keys not correct in MS WORD
The short cut key to show the paragraph markers is Ctrl + SHift + *
but in the image in my word 365 it says Ctrl + *

Some keyboard shortcuts are language-specific, or rather keyboard-specific. Ctrl+Shift+8 should work in most cases when it comes to showing nonprinting marks.
The asterisk, on most keyboards is Shift+8.
I usually write this as Ctrl+Shift+8 or Ctrl+*.
It is never Ctrl+Shift+*.

Indeed, if you use the asterisk on the numeric keypad, it does not work. You need the one above the 8 using the shift key.
