Sysinfo sever 2022 "essential" vs. "standard"

Hello

We've bought a new server with Windows Server 2022 Essential OEM Version.
Systeminfo shows Windows Server 2022 Standard.
Our 3rd party software is licensed to Windows Server Essential and does not accept the installed server version.
My question. What should systeminfo show with server 2022?
I learned that the latest version of "essential" is equal to "standard" but has a few hardware limitation.
Is there a way to see that "essential" is installed?
thank you

  • Regardless, the vendor will be your best resource for resolution to the problem. The burden is on the developer to certify an application for a given operating system.

Windows 2022 Essentials doesnt include the backup services for workstation previously included in Server 2019 Essentials.  I guess Acronos is going to issue a special license to fix it.

  • I'd get in touch with the third-party vendor about support for the operating system installed.

Dave Patrickthank you for your reply.

3rd party support sees "standard" in sysinfo and wants me to upgrade their software from "essential".
I have not found any answer if sysinfo should show windows server 2022 essential or if it will always show windows server 2022 standard even with an essential license key.

Got that, seems you'll need to ask the third-party provider if there's support for Server 2022 Essentials. If so, they should be aware and know of the fix.
