Thank you for joining us this week for the Windows Server Summit! Q&A is now closed, but all sessions are available on demand so you can watch and learn when it is convenient for you. We hope you enjoyed the event.
When WS 2022 to 2025 (and future releases) upgrade is now possible with flighting, will there be a GPO to disable or avoid it when app or licensing (e. g. no Software Assurance) not is not ready?
We had something like version pinning with Windows 10. Is this something customers could expect working the same way?- Jeff-Woolsey
Microsoft
Yes, there is a GPO for flighting.- Oh Jeff, that's spotless 🙂
- Jen05Iron ContributorDo you think the server will eventually become an AI-powered system?
- Jeff-Woolsey
Microsoft
I think the operative word is "eventually," not in Windows Server 2025. There's tremendous potential for AI with Windows Server, but nothing I can discuss today. Is there something you'd like to see?
- SteskaljIron ContributorWill you be adding the option to host a winget server as a role or feature?
- Jeff-Woolsey
Microsoft
It already in Windows Server 2025 and you can test it in the Windows Server Insider builds. Simply open terminal and type winget!- John, do I understand correctly about winget "server" to host own repositories?
- Olaf_EngelkeIron ContributorWhat about small security - will Edge stop defaulting to show news/ads if running on a server OS?
- Jeff-Woolsey
Microsoft
You shouldn't be browsing the Internet from a server. Any server. Do it from your client device. This has been a best practice for almost two decades. However, we also know that there are scenarios where a browser is needed to browse local intranet resources, so for that reason, Edge is included to provide a secure browser for these scenarios. - I would love that. Is it part of Edge Security baseline to custom the frontpage?
- Jeff-Woolsey
Microsoft
Good feedback! I'll forward this to the appropriate folks, thanks!
