When Windows 11 will support 7gen i7-7500U intel processcor

Brass Contributor

Hii everyone

I have aroud 4 years old computer(running Windows10) that has the i7-7500U intel CPU.
I checked with the "PC health check" app, and the only missing requirment update to windows 11 is the proccessor.

Does Micorsoft will update the Windows11 to support this CPU also?

thank you very much for helping!

Hope That MS will support Core i7 7500u soon
Thank you!
For all of you have issue with the Windows 11 compatibility, I advise you to open start and search for feedback and open Feedback Hub app and file a report and request your processor to be supported. If the feedback exist , then upvote it.
I am using Windows 11 on Intel CORE i7 10th GEN. No issues so far.
We are discussing 7th gen, not 10th gen. But even on 7th gen it works fine, I installed it anyway.
Hello, I would like an official statement as to why this processor will not be supported. It's a simple question for Microsoft. Thanks . Have a nice day :)

@DrHuuu705No official answer from me, but I have installed it on a i7-7500U machine, and there is one little thing, where it appears somewhat laggy compared to Win10: The file explorer. For example when clicking on a new folder, its display comes after a slight delay. Also selecting multiple files - while pulling up the selection area with the mouse, it only reacts stepwise. I wonder if these effects are really to be attributed to the 7500 CPU.

Hii everyone
If you can go here https://aka.ms/AAe0h74 and upvote the feadback I will really appricate that.

@Eyal_Elboim

Same here. I've Intel i7-7500U @ 2.70GHz.

Specs of my Pc.

  • Supports Secure Boot.
  • TPM 2.0 enabled.
  • 16 GB RAM.
  • 500 GB Storage.
  • 2 Cores.
  • 2.9 GHz Clock speed.

I guess it meets the bare minimum requirements but still says the processor isn't currently supported.

Same issue with me!
I have no idea either, it's just not a 8th gen, just upvote every feedback in feedback hub related to this issue. You can either rgo to beta channel and get the upragde to use the registry hack aka.ms/waystogetwin11.

This will alow you to use the ISO and bypass the CPU requirement. note take this at your own risk

@DarkmenanceIf Microsoft want to force me to buy a new machine, then fine. I'll get a Mac.

This will not only cost a lot to the end users but also for small companies, where a standard office PC is not supported anymore. I think Microsoft will review once again the supported PCs...
Hi Everyone,

Microsoft may lower it down, they may be just focusing on the newer one first then working internally on a version for everyone.

You can still use the registry hack to get windows 11 at your own risk.

Also Windows 10 is still supported until 2025.

my mistake guys

What I can tell by looking at my benchmarks, Windows 11 is very fast.

We need some folks to try the registry hack to upgrade to Win11 and report their experience. I don't want to be the first

I already did the registry hack, you know what I found out is that when you join the insider program and choose beta or dev. It will download the preview and use the same registry dword into it.

Hi RdMartin,

I have the Windows 11 from the ISO with registry hack, ti works fine. but it depns on your system .

Can ou give me the specs including secure boot, uefi, tpm 2.0

Has anyone tried this method yet?

this for clean install https://youtu.be/FOG9lW0GlCc

this for update from win10 https://youtu.be/u1FmfJpJsKw

this you dont need to download win10 iso file, just edit appraiserres.dll https://youtu.be/qswIMbzyLQw

this you dont need to download win10 iso file, just delete appraiserres.dll https://youtu.be/CDLsbHijs3c

It doesn't need registry hack. If anyone has tried it and how did it work, let me know.

Hello Fluke,

If you go to aka.ms/waystogetwin11, you can just add that dword to the registry to allow it to byapss method.

Though you have to have TPM 1.2
