Switching back to dev channel, after reset

Copper Contributor

I have always been an insider in the dev channel. Last week I have reset my pc to switch from Windows 10 N(T) to normal 10. But now I'm not able anymore to join the dev channel, since my pc apparently doesn't have the minimum hardware.

Is there anyone who knows or can help me rejoin the dev channel?

My Hardware:

CPU: Intel Core i7 9700k

GPU: GeForce rtx 2070

Ram: 16gb 3200MHz

Hi follow these steps and it should work again:

- type: "Windows-Key" + r

- type: "regedit"

- go to this path: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\UI\Selection"

- click "UIBranch" twice and change to "Dev"

- go to this path: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability"

- click "UIBranch" twice and change to "Dev"

- click "ContentType" twice and change to "Mainline"

- click "Ring" twice and change to "External"

- now restart you PC and insider Dev-Chanel should appear in your Update-Settings

I hope I helped. Sorry for my english.  😉

Hello @ru1t3rl,

As per https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-insider/flighting#switching-from-the-dev-channel, switching from Dev channel requires a clean install.

So you can make clean install, and if you still like to be in Dev channel, retry joining it and that should work.

Regards.

This is what I have done. And gave me the problem I'm facing right now
Thanks this worked.
In: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability" you have to change "BranchName" to "Dev" instead of "UIBranch"
