Forgot Samsung Phone Password, Can I Unlock a Samsung Phone on a PC?

Hi all,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 phone that I forgot the password after recent password change. It is a backup phone and not being used frequently. In fact, I tried all the passcodes, PIN and Pattern I could think of but unfortunately all failed.

Does anyone know how to unlock a Samsung phone if I forgot Samsung phone password? I heard it could be done on a Windows PC. Kindly share you insight on this matter. It would be much better to unlock Samsung phone without losing data.

Thanks

Elaoine Do you use password manager app for backing up the password? If yes, then you can find all saved passwords from there and try the possible passwords to unlock Samsung phone without losing data if you forgot Samsung phone password. This is the most recommended way!

Elaoine  Unfortunately, Samsung Cloud does not save the lock screen password remotely. It is primarily used for backing up and syncing data such as contacts, calendars, photos, videos, and documents, but it does not store security settings like your lock screen password or PIN.

If you forget Samsung phone lock screen password/pin/pattern, Samsung provides other methods to unlock Samsung phone without passcode or PIN, such as using your Google account, Samsung's Find My Mobile service, or performing a factory reset (which will erase all data on the device).

Before you even start trying to unlock your Samsung phone after forgot Samsung password, make sure you have everything backed up. If you go straight to a factory reset without backing up your data, you'll lose everything—contacts, pictures, apps, you name it. So, if possible, use Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive to save your stuff. You can access OneDrive from a computer or another device, and it's a lifesaver when you're in a pinch.

If you set up a Samsung account and registered your phone after you forgot Samsung phone password, you can use Samsung's Find My Mobile service. Just go to the Find My Mobile website on your computer or another device, log in with your Samsung account, and you should see an option to unlock your phone. They basically allow you to remove the password, which is a lifesaver:

    • Open a browser and go to Find My Mobile.
    • Sign in with your Samsung account, just use the same Samsung account that's linked to your locked phone.
    • Once you're logged in, you should see a list of devices associated with your Samsung account. Click on the device you need to unlock.
    • In the options provided on the screen, look for something like "Unlock" or "Remote Unlock." Click the unlock option, and you might be asked to verify your identity again (using your account password or answering security questions—just stay cool!).
    • Once you're good to go, confirm that you want to unlock the device.

If you haven't registered with Samsung, no worries! You can try Google's Find My Device after you forgot Samsung phone password. Just head to the Find My Device website and log in with your Google account. You might not have an option to specifically unlock the phone, but you can use it to erase your device. This will wipe out everything, though, so if you can handle that, it's an option!

ElaoineIf you've forgotten Samsung phone password, PIN, or pattern for your Samsung phone, you might be able to unlock it using your Google account. However, this method is only available on devices running Android 4.4 or earlier.

How to unlock Samsung phone using Google account:

    1. After a few incorrect attempts (usually five), you should see an option like "Forgot pattern," "Forgot PIN," or "Forgot password" at the bottom of the lock screen.
    2. Tap on "Forgot pattern/PIN/password". This will bring up a prompt asking you to sign in with your Google account.
    3. Enter the email and password associated with the Google account linked to the device.
    4. Once authenticated, you should be able to create a new password, PIN, or pattern.

If all else fails, you can't think of any way to solve the problem of forgetting password of your Samsung phone. You might have to do a factory reset. Just a heads-up, this will erase all your data, so only go this route if you can't recover the password any other way. To do it, power off your phone, then press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time. Once you see the Samsung logo, you can release both buttons. Use the volume buttons to navigate to "Wipe data/factory reset" and select it. Confirm and bam—you should be back to square one!

Resetting your Samsung phone is often a lengthy process that could involve wiping data after forgot Samsung phone password. Especially if you cannot use services like Find My Mobile or if you haven't set it up previously. After a reset, setting up your phone again can be time-consuming, especially if you have to reinstall apps and reconfigure settings.

Elaoine A passcode helps prevent unauthorized users from accessing your phone. Whether it's a simple 4-digit PIN or a more complex alphanumeric password, it serves as the first line of defense against anyone trying to access your device without your permission.

Samsung devices, like most modern smartphones, use encryption to protect the data stored on your phone. This means that even if someone were to bypass the passcode (which is difficult), the data on the phone would remain encrypted and inaccessible without the correct passcode.

This means you can't unlock Samsung phone without losing data. The working methods have to factory reset Samsung phone or remotely erase the Samsung phone in order to unlock the device. This is true for Samsung Galaxy and A smartphones, including:

    • Samsung Galaxy S24/S23/S22/S21/S20/S10
    • Samsung Galaxy A14/A15/A25/A35/A54

Find My Mobile is a security feature offered by Samsung that allows you to locate, lock, or remotely control your Samsung smartphone or tablet if it is lost or stolen. This service is similar to Apple's Find My iPhone and is designed to help you protect your personal information and recover your device.

How to unlock Samsung phone if forgot the password:

    1. Go to Samsung Find My Mobile web site.
    2. Use the same account linked to your Samsung device.
    3. In the options menu, select "Unlock" and follow the prompts to unlock your device.

This will factory reset the device and unlock Samsung phone when reset is completed. Afterwards, you need set up the phone as new and recover data from Samsung Cloud.
