Thanks for joining us today for an AMA on Windows Autopilot. We appreciate your questions and feedback—and look forward to continuing the discussion on the https://aka.ms/Community/Windows!
- FlavioP365Copper ContributorWhen will AutoPilot for Hybrid Azure AD join, have the ability to rename the computer name from within the Windows AutoPilot devices page? We are able to use this with Azure AD joined devices that go through Autopilot, but not with Hybrid Azure AD joined. Right now we have to deploy that profile that randomly renames the device, then we have to change the name manually after AP completes.

FlavioP365, Thank you for your question. This has been a long standing ask, but haven't been able to fund this due to other high priority issues. We don't have a good answer at this time, perhaps check back with us in our next AMA/ PG touch point. If you haven't already created a ticket/ DCR ask for this, I'd ask you to please do so.
- Christian ZenzanoBrass ContributorIs there a Microsoft FastTrack option for implementing AutoPilot.
- Joe_Lurie
Microsoft
Yes! Microsoft FastTrack can help get you started! Check them out at https://aka.ms/FastTrack
- Christian ZenzanoBrass ContributorIs windows autopilot able to use Microsoft authenticator app as a method of MFA to connect a device to Hybrid Azure AD
- Heena Macwan
Microsoft
Yes, it MFA is enabled by whatever method, it should work.
- AnnaChuSilver ContributorThanks for joining us on today's Tech Community Live experience! How are you liking today's session so far? Tell us if you want to see more sessions like this in the future.
- Sam ChowOccasional ReaderIs there a way to tell which app(s) fail to install during Enrollment Status Page? We randomly encounter failure or timeout (set to 90 mins in our environment), during the application install step.

Hi Sam Chow, thank you for the question. Today, this involves using the various diagnostic tools and logs built into the OS, however, we have a great new feature we're working on aptly named "Autopilot Troubleshooting" that will present a user friendly, GUI-based local troubleshooting screen on the device. This will show details about most aspects of the Autopilot process giving greater visibility when failures occur. Look for this feature soon.
- Sam ChowOccasional ReaderGreat, looking forward for the feature.
- Sam ChowOccasional ReaderIn our environment, we are converting ConfigMgr imaged laptops to Autopilot. After reset and went through the Autopilot progress, the device record in "Enroll device - Windows Autopilot devices" is referencing to two device ID between "Associated Intune device" and "Associated Azure AD device". Due to the Autopilot process, we are using a new naming convention for Autopilot deployed device. Associated Intune device has the up-to-date device name, and Associated Azure AD device is still referencing to the legacy device name (ConfigMgr imaged). When we have a dynamic query AzureAD group that looks for "Group Tag" of this device, it didn't capture the "Associated Intune device" name, and the device fell off from the AzureAD group. Is this an expected behavior for converting?

Thanks for the question. May I ask if this is a Hybrid AAD joined device?- Sam ChowOccasional ReaderBefore Autopilot reset, yes. ConfigMgr imaged devices are all Hybrid AAD joined. After Autopilot, it's AAD joined only.
- trebelowBrass ContributorWill be there an option to install Windows Updates while Autopilot?
- Heena Macwan
Microsoft
Yes, this is on our roadmap, we do not have a date commitment at this time, unfortunately.
- Christian ZenzanoBrass ContributorWere can i get information on setting up AutoPilot
- Jason_Sandys
Microsoft
Hi Christian Zenzano. Thank you again for your participation and question.
There are many different excellent resources available for this. I always strongly recommend starting with official documentation: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/autopilot/.
There are also many awesome supplemental resources by members of the community including our awesome MVPs like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KN4tfKQqtVs.
- Harjit_DhaliwalIron ContributorYou can start here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/autopilot/windows-autopilot And here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/autopilot/

You can check out all of our docs at https://aka.ms/memdocs/WindowsAutopilotDocs. And if you need a lab setup, make sure you look at https://aka.ms/DeploymentLabKit for scenarios, software, and step by step instructions on lots of topics!
- ChrisWilliamsBrass ContributorOne additional question is when will the "Allow White Glove OOBE" option allow for connectivity over WiFi. At present this option the device needs to be connected via a LAN connection. Most Surface devices do not have a network port leaving us admins having to rely on a usb network adaptor or a dock.
- Eric_Huang95Copper ContributorHi Chris, thanks for the great question. Currently it actually is possible to do pre-provisioning (White Glove) via WiFi, but it's a bit unintuitive. The technician can either connect to a WiFi network on the first page of OOBE via an admin cmd prompt, or click through a couple pages of OOBE until WiFi selection is asked, and then after network connection is acquired, click the Windows key 5x and go through pre-provisioning. We currently don't have plans to 'naturally' incorporate the WiFi selection page to the pre-provisioning flow, but that's great feedback, and we'll definitely look into that. Thanks again!
- ChrisWilliamsBrass ContributorThanks i will have to test this out. I will have to review our steps and go through them again. We had encountered this recently and posed this question recently to a MS fast track team member we were working with and we were informed it is not possible. Maybe it has now changed.
