HOW TO MOVE Windows 10 Home HDD TO ANOTHER PC
My Lenova Ideapad Notepad Windows 10 Home died of the motherboard.
How can I REMOVE the HDD and install it in another Lenova Ideapad Notepad that does not have a HD?
With or without DL'ing Windows 10 Home and using my registration number?
Thank you for your time.

- The older machine died, if it had OEM license, then it was tied to the motherboard. The OEM license is not transferable in nature. In this case, you'll need a new license for another machine on which you want to transfer HDD.
In case if older system was on retail license, you just need to reactivate it on newer system when asked. Retail license is transfer-able.- SirGoyGaryLookingOutCopper ContributorThank you. It was retail. That was an excellent intelligent reply; Gary New Orleans Gates
- You could switch the HDD to another IdeaPad if the hardware is the same.(And even if not, Windows fixes a lot of things for you) You might have to enter your BitLocker key afterward if it was encrypted. Activation of Windows 10 home should be ok, in the old one (that died) the key was in the UEFI bios, and in the new one, you will also have a valid key. It could be that Windows activation might pop-up asking you to fix it, but you have a valid license in the hardware of the new machine
- SirGoyGaryLookingOutCopper ContributorThank you very much.
MS has a media creater link and they careated a boot up Flash Drive with Windows 10 home then used my email account to DL, Install and Register. All is well with my soul. Gary - SirGoyGaryLookingOutCopper ContributorThank you that was an excellent intelligent reply; Gary New Orleans Gates
