Windows 11 Taskbar
Here's another option worth considering, especially if you want the taskbar to just look like it did in Windows 10.
1. Open regedit.exe
2. Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
3. Click on Advanced
4. Find REG_DWORD titled TaskbarSmallIcons and set it to "1" (default is "0")
5. Then install ExplorerPatcher from GitHub:
https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases/latest/download/ep_setup.exe
With those 5 steps I was able to finally get the taskbar in Windows 11 to look small, just like Win10. And also hide the annoying date next to the clock (which made the taskbar too wide) and without any tray icons looking truncated! Plus it even enabled me to get my QuickLaunch toolbar back. For extra credit, I installed OpenShell (https://open-shell.github.io/Open-Shell-Menu/) for a few of my older users who don't do well without their Win7 Start menu.
It's amazing how Microsoft thinks it's okay to tick off its customers at every version by forcing them to learn a new UI. It's fine if they want the default UI to look more like MacOS, but geez at least provide options so people can configure it back to their liking. Most of the so-called "hacks" that return Windows to a state of comfortableness simply make changes to keys that are already in the registry.

Thank you!! This looks so much better!! The date is gone and it looks so much cleaner! With regards to the software being 'malicious', I tested Explorer Patcher in a VM and it does nothing aside from cosmetic changes to the taskbar, making it look like Windows 10.

yigael ep_setup.exe seems to be a malicious software
- AjTeX1Mar 03, 2022Copper ContributorHi baranaydin & yigael
Yes, I agree "ep_setup.exe" to be mailicious software! rather use "StartAllBack" application and get all abovementioned tweaks for Win 11.

yigael I think you should consider to review the linked tool, It seems to be a malicious software as you can see https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/b49e85051a2ebbc52ad69978c6419296d9c8777325261c0c082cf5f3855b8b4d
- PicozMar 12, 2022Copper ContributorThree things come to mind, nrebaioli; apart from the fact that I've never previously
heard of Max Secure (I see it's an Indian A/V company) none of the most highly rated
A/V progs (Bitdefender, Kaspersky, ESET, F-Secure, McAfee, Trend) in the Total Virus
results. plus others with good reputations, catch .susgen. I have used SecureAPlus
which, generally, is a good antimalware prog, but dumped it because a couple of the 12
cloud engines it uses regularly produced too many false positives for me. I'm confident
that's what's happened here. Second, you won't find Max Secure on AVTest or Virus Bulletin
or ISCA or AV Comparatives, etc. The 'reviews' I have found on Google I wouldn't trust.
Indeed, one Rakshith Sarvotham B.C.A. Computer Applications, Dayananda Sagar Institutions
(2016), who lives in India, wrote, 'I would personally not recommend it (Max Secure) based
on the numerous complaints and reviews..the product has received the least ratings on many
trusted websites.' Third, try reaching https://www.maxpcsecure.com/. I get on three
browsers. 'Potentially Unwanted Content Found.'
I'm using StartAllBack, in the meantime, too.
