There are too many pop-up ads on my computer

A lot of intrusive pop-up ads appearing randomly on my computer, which disrupt my browsing and work. These ads often pop up unexpectedly while I am using my browser or even when I am not actively on any website, making it difficult to focus and feel secure. I have tried closing them manually and running my antivirus software, but the problem persists and seems to get worse over time. It feels like my system might be infected with adware or malware that is causing these unwanted advertisements to appear constantly. I am looking for advice on how to eliminate these pop-up ads completely and ensure my computer is safe and free from such intrusive ads.

  • If a pop-up has locked up your browser or is playing audio, do not click anything on the page—especially not a "Close" or "Allow" button.

  • Standard antivirus programs often miss adware and "potentially unwanted programs" (PUPs). For this, you need dedicated tools that are specifically designed to find and remove them.

Make sure your antivirus or anti-malware software’s real-time protection is enabled and up to date for ongoing defense.

  • Hi, that sounds like either browser notification spam, a bad extension, or adware. Check browser site notification permissions first and remove any unknown sites, then uninstall suspicious apps/extensions. I’d also run Microsoft Defender Offline scan and, if the pop-ups continue, reset the affected browser profile.
