In Windows 11, the snap layout does not appear when dragging a window to the edge of the screen
When dragging a window to the top or edge of the screen, the snap layout selection panel—which should automatically appear—does not show up, making it impossible to quickly split the screen.
We have confirmed that the “Snap Windows” option under Settings → System → Multitasking is enabled, but the issue persists.

verify a specific sub-setting within the Multitasking menu that controls the drag-to-snap behavior:
- Go to Settings > System > Multitasking.
- Click the dropdown arrow next to "Snap windows" to expand the options.
- Make sure the option "Show snap layouts when I drag a window to the top of my screen" is checked .
If it's already on, try toggling the main "Snap windows" switch off and back on. This can sometimes refresh the feature's functionality .
Hi Thatcherw, I would first check Settings, System, Multitasking and make sure Snap windows and the related layout options are enabled. Also try Win+Z, because if that works then Snap is enabled but the drag trigger is failing. Restart Explorer, check display scaling, and look for any policy or third-party window manager that might be overriding snap behavior.
