How to Increase C Drive Space in Windows 11 without Formatting
- Sep 19, 2024
I totally get it, I made the same mistake myself once! I used a free tool called Dr.Partition to easily drag and resize my partitions without losing any data on my D drive. It was way easier than I expected and saved me from a full Windows reinstall.

I had the exact same problem when I upgraded to Windows 11 — only gave C: 80GB and it filled up super quick. Disk Management wouldn’t let me extend it because the free space was locked behind D:.
What I did was shrink D: by about 50GB, then used a partition tool (I used Dr.Partition) to move D: to the right, so the unallocated space sat right next to C:. After that, the “Extend Volume” option finally lit up, and I could just add the space to C:.
No reinstall, no formatting — took maybe half an hour with a reboot. Now my C: has plenty of breathing room and Windows runs smoother.

Well, the so called solution costs money. Bad solution imho.
