How to bypass windows 11 sign in screen during setup and installation
I want to install Windows 11 on my new PC and set up a local account only. The apps and services associated with a Microsoft account will apparently slow down the computer, especially the device does not have a sold hardware profile.
In addition, signing with a Microsoft account during setup is very slow. It will pull off the things from the remote server that connected to this account. Please share me how can I bypass Windows 11 sign in screen during installation in 2026!
Thanks

A simple supported route is to finish setup, then create a separate local administrator account. Open Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account, choose "I don't have this person's sign-in information," then "Add a user without a Microsoft account." Change the new account type to Administrator, sign into it, and confirm your files and apps work before removing the first profile.
This gives you a clean local profile without relying on setup commands that may disappear in a later Windows build. During setup, choose Set up as a new PC so Windows does not restore settings from the Microsoft account.

WinUpgradeMate has a built-in feature for bypassing Windows 11 sign-in screen during USB creation. It works quite good even the latest Windows 11 ISO.

Win11CleanInstall uses an unattended configuration to skip the Microsoft account requirement during setup. This gives you a straightforward way to see how to bypass Windows 11 sign-in screen while completing the installation with a local account.
Getting Started:
Prepare: Download the project files and copy the included sources folder and autounattend.xml file to the root of your Windows 11 installation media.
How to Bypass Windows 11 Sign-In Screen:
- Boot the PC from the prepared installation media.
- Start a clean installation.
- Let the unattended setup and included scripts run automatically.
- Windows completes OOBE without requiring a Microsoft account sign-in.
The unattended setup handles the Microsoft account stage automatically, so you do not have to make any changes when OOBE reaches the sign-in process.
Disadvantages
- It is designed for a clean installation rather than an in-place upgrade.
- You need to modify the installation media before starting setup.
- The project recommends Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise, while the Home edition is currently untested.

A practical way to bypass Windows 11 sign in screen during setup is to prepare the installation so that Windows creates a local account without going through the usual Microsoft account screens. Install11 does this with an unattended configuration file that skips OOBE during a clean installation.
Setup Process:
- Download the project from the official GitHub repository, click Code > Download ZIP, and extract the files.
- Edit skip_oobe.xml with the local account and regional settings you want to use.
- Put install.cmd and the edited XML file on your Windows 11 installation media, then boot the PC from it.
- At the first Windows Setup screen, press Shift + F10 and identify the disk where Windows will be installed.
- Clean the selected disk, then identify the Windows image and the correct edition index.
- Run the installation script with the required image, edition, disk, and partition information. The script installs Windows and places the unattended configuration in the Panther folder.
The unattended setup is what makes it possible to bypass Windows 11 sign in screen during setup and finish the installation with the local account specified in the XML file.
Important:This process performs a clean installation and erases the selected disk, so back up anything important before starting.

Microsoft has removed some of the older ways to create a local account during newer Windows setups, so the familiar OOBE\BYPASSNRO method may no longer work. BypassNRO by THectic-NL provides another way to bypass Windows 11 sign in screen during setup and complete OOBE without signing in to a Microsoft account.
What This Method Does
- Microsoft account — Not required
- OOBE sign-in — Skipped
- Local accounts — Created automatically
- Windows 11 25H2 — Tested
- Internet connection — Required for downloading the setup files
For newer installations, the script handles the Microsoft account requirement by placing an answer file in Windows and using Sysprep to restart OOBE with local accounts configured.
Bypass Windows 11 Sign In Screen During Setup
Step 1: When you reach OOBE, press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt.
Step 2: Run the script
iex(irm bypassnro.thectic.nl/bypass.ps1)
Step 3: The script displays SHA256 checksums for the two downloaded files. Compare them with the checksums published by the project, then enter y to continue.
Step 4:The script places the answer file in Windows and runs Sysprep. The PC then restarts into OOBE and creates the local Admin and User accounts without requiring a Microsoft account.
Overall, this provides a practical local-account setup path on newer Windows builds without relying on the older OOBE\BYPASSNRO command.

If you want to set up Windows 11 with a local account, an answer file can automate supported installation options without relying on blocked Microsoft login servers. To bypass windows 11 sign-in screen during installation, prepare an Autounattend.xml file with the appropriate local-account and OOBE settings.
Simple Steps
- Use Microsoft’s Windows System Image Manager to create an answer file and configure the desired local account settings.
- Save the file as Autounattend.xml and place it in the root directory of the USB drive.
- Connect the USB drive and the Windows installation media, then start the computer and run the Windows Setup program. The Setup program will automatically detect the answer file.
- If you are already in a Windows PE environment, you can use the following command to explicitly specify the answer file, replacing D: with the correct drive letter:
setup.exe /unattend: D:\Autounattend.xml
Tip:
- You must configure the XML file correctly based on your Windows image and installation requirements. Simply hiding the online account page does not guarantee that a local account will be created. Be sure to test the file before using it on a computer containing important data.
- For users who wish to bypass windows 11 sign-in screen during installation, this method achieves this by configuring supported installation options rather than relying on unreliable modifications to the hosts file.

Setting up Windows 11 without signing in to a Microsoft account can be confusing, especially on newer installation builds. This method is useful when you want to bypass the Windows 11 sign-in screen during installation and configure a local account without completing the Microsoft account sign-in process.
How to Bypass Windows 11 sign in screen during installation
Step 1: Continue with the Windows 11 setup until you reach the network connection or Microsoft sign-in screen.

If you’re installing Windows 11 Pro, look for Set up for work or school > Sign-in options > Domain join instead. If that option appears, it lets you create a local account—you don’t actually need to join a domain.
If it isn’t available, the straightforward option is to finish setup, then open Settings > Accounts > Your info > Sign in with a local account instead. During setup, choose to set up as a new PC rather than restore your old backup.
Also, signing in with a Microsoft account doesn’t itself slow down the computer. OneDrive syncing and restoring old apps are separate things you can skip. Older “bypass” commands you’ll find online don’t work consistently on newer Windows 11 builds.
