How much is Copilot is integrated in your Windows 11 installation?

Everywhere I look, people seem to be complaining that Microsoft is forcing Copilot and AI on us.

But for me, it's just a UWP app that I disabled from auto-starting in Task Manager and sometime I use. It's also in Edge, which I turned off for months but have started using more now, and it's in the Notepad app. Is it different on your Windows installation?

I think all of these can be done in Windows 10, update Notepad and Edge and then install Copilot from MS Store... Am I missing something?

  • Microsoft has integrated Copilot and AI features deeply into Windows 11, especially with certain updates. Some features may be more tightly woven into the OS core, making them harder to disable completely without Registry edits or group policies, especially on Windows 11.
