Win10 System tray clock occasionally stops updating and shows wrong time
The system clock on the taskbar sometimes stops updating and displays a time that is a few minutes behind the actual time.
Clicking the clock to open the calendar pane usually forces it to refresh, but the problem reoccurs after a few hours. The issue persists even when both the Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically options are enabled.

Because opening the calendar immediately corrects the displayed time, this may be a frozen taskbar clock rather than the system clock drifting. Confirm that while the tray is stale: compare it with Settings > Time & language > Date & time, or run w32tm /query /status. If Windows reports the correct time, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, select Windows Explorer in Task Manager, choose Restart, then install current Windows updates. If the system time is also wrong, keep Set time automatically enabled, verify the time zone, select Sync now, and run w32tm /resync from an elevated terminal. Check the source and last successful synchronization. A “no time data available” result points to the configured time source, DNS, or blocked NTP traffic rather than the taskbar. Review System events from Windows-Time-Service if it recurs. If only Explorer freezes repeatedly, report the reproducible shell behavior through Feedback Hub with the exact Windows build.
