"blue screen" flashes before restart

Copper Contributor
Is there a registry value, or similar control, that causes Windows to "pause" when displaying a "blue screen" severe error? The default seems to be to flash the error, then restart the computer, effectively covering up the problem and its identifying information.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

If you can start Windows

These tools and methods can help you roll back your system to an earlier state, and help ensure your computer has the latest updates installed.

Undo recent changes using System Restore

Use Action Center to check for solutions to problems

Check Windows Update for software updates

Search for drivers on the manufacturer's website

Use safe mode to troubleshoot problems

Check your computer for hard disk and memory errors

If you can't start Windows at all

Try safe mode to start Windows

Use Startup Repair to fix Windows startup files

Undo recent changes using System Restore

Restore your computer using a system image backup

Reinstall Windows

OP is asking how to stop Windows from automatically restarting after BSOD is shown.

also I'm not sure how that advertisement link in your comment which is related to an entirely different thing, can help his situation.

If you get windows up and running:

Start,run,type control, enter
System and security, system, advanced system settings, startup and recovery settings button, system failure

Deselect automatically restart

Also notice the dumo file location

From Microsoft store, download and install WibDbg preview, and then open your .dmp file. It will provide you with more info as to what is causing the bsod
