Nahimic service issue

Copper Contributor

I had an issue with 1Password - strange graphics rendering when using the app in windows 10 Pro. The 1Password support team told me to disable the Nahimic service and that worked. Here is what their support team said:

From what you've described, you may be experiencing a rendering issue we've been investigating with the development team recently, that relates to this GitHub issue. We're now wondering if a Windows update might have reverted what a program called Nahimic originally did to resolve it.

Nahimic is often bundled with software suites, for example Asus AI Suite, Asus Armory Crate, or Sonic Studio. We've found that disabling the Nahimic service and restarting the system will resolve this issue.

Can you please follow the steps below and let me know if this works for you as well?

  1. Click the Windows icon
  2. Type Services
  3. Right-click Services app
  4. Click Run as administrator
  5. Scroll down to Nahimic
  6. Right click > Properties
  7. Change Startup type to Disabled to stop the service
  8. Click Apply and click Ok
  9. Reboot your device

This isn't something that's broken within 1Password, but rather a different piece of software that has caused this rendering behaviour across Windows. As such, if this fix resolves the issue for you, I'd suggest following up and reporting the problem to:

Hi @JohnGrubb

That's interesting to know but has nothing to do with Microsoft Windows. You can only blame Nahimic, which is not new to faulty drivers.

Thanks for the response. I only posted it here because the 1Password team asked me to. I have also reported the issue to Nahimic.
You did right, thank you @JohnGrubb
It's always good to know a possible cause of trouble.
