BEST option is to update to Windows 11 and use custom desktop backgrounds for each desktop! Win+Tab, create new desktop. Win+Tab, right click on the mini-view of the desktop, and customize the background. Easy peasy.

The https://github.com/dankrusi/WindowsVirtualDesktopHelper provides a way to display a) the name of the virtual desktop while switching and b) the number of the Desktop in the task bar. Although the number is not the name, for me, this helped to be oriented.

This is an excellent little app. It makes Virtual Desktops more useful.

Hi Saura, I installed this app from the store https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9NHCL1XQWXF1 that does exactly what you need. It is quite handy and minimalistic

  • Hello saurabhude,

AFAIK, there is no native way right now to see current virtual desktop name you're working on. Though you can drop a feedback on this, so this could be made possible via upcoming updates.

    Good luck!
