How does Viva Glint define and measure engagement?
Hi, I am Melissa Barry, and I am part of the Viva People Science team. One of the top questions we get at Viva Glint is how we define and measure engagement. We define engagement as the degree to which employees invest their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral energies toward positive organizational outcomes. Engaged employees are absorbed in and are enthusiastic about their work. They find a greater sense of meaning in what they do, see a stronger connection between their strengths and their role, and they expend discretionary effort in their role performances. We measure engagement using a two-item engagement index, eSat (How happy are you working at Organization Name?) and Recommend (I would recommend Organization Name as a great place to work.) Viva Glint's eSat question continues to be the single best measure of employee engagement and predictor of performance and attrition. Recommend measures their willingness to endorse and be an advocate. Together these two items measure engagement, the strongest driver of business outcomes. Does this resonate with how you define and measure engagement at your organization? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!Post-Summit AMA with Viva Glint - April 20 at 11am PT
Join us to continue the conversation from the Viva Glint Summit session. We will discuss the fundamental needs of people at work and how we create science-backed human-centric product experiences that drive business results. An AMA is a live text-based online event similar to an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with Microsoft product experts who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback. Thanks for sharing this, Lesley_Crook_MVP. Viva is just the most welcoming new hire buddy! I am also thinking how Engage is such a great platform for the new hire to do a self-introduction to the org. The manager can give a few prompts or ideas, but that new hire can express themselves using text... or emojis... or images... or a poem! That self-introduction, compared to a more formal corporate announcement, can really demonstrate one's personality and start a convo, without the reply-all inbox clogging that often happens.Introductions
Hi, all! Welcome to the Viva Community. We are thrilled you are here to connect and engage with peers and experts in the employee experience space. To get to know the members of the Viva Community, we are going to start this very first discussion forum with introductions. We hope this thread continues to grow over time so members of our community can continually get to know one another. Some ideas of what to include in your introduction: your name, where you are located, your role in your organization, topics of interest, and why you are excited to join this Community. I'll go first! My name is Melissa Barry and I am part of the Microsoft Viva team. I lead our customer empowerment team as part of Viva People Science and launching this site is one of the many projects that I am fortunate to be part of in my current role. I am passionate about making people happier and successful at work, and I believe when individuals succeed, organizations succeed. I am interested in the intersection of organizational psychology and technology and what that means for the future of work, especially as we think about AI. I am thrilled to be part of this community to connect and learn from all of you. Outside of work, I love exploring our local NYC parks and restaurants with my husband and daughter.8.1KViews21likes30Comments
