Re: Windows Server 2025 is generally available as of Nov 1!!
You need to run setup.exe from the mounted ISO from within Windows. If you boot to the ISO, you can't do the upgrade. If by chance you are running setup.exe from the mounted ISO within Windows, then something else is blocking it.642Views0likes0CommentsRe: Windows Server 2025 is generally available as of Nov 1!!
As far as I know, that was a glitch and was NOT supposed to happen. I am not aware if WS2025 will again be advertised to older server versions. There are so many configurations possible, such a large matrix. :) You can always download a valid ISO file, mount it, and do an in-place upgrade that way.521Views0likes0CommentsRe: WS2025 Preview (26100.1) fails to boot after joining WS2016 forest
With the final version (26100.1742) available, I would try installing that updated version, and then join to the domain and see if you get better results. If you have access to Visual Studio downloads or the Volume License portal on M365 admin center, you can get an updated ISO at the October (RTM) patch level.696Views0likes0CommentsRe: Windows Server 2025 is generally available as of Nov 1!!
Where did you get the ISO? Assuming it's from a legitimate source, :), you should see the upgrade option if you run setup.exe from the mounted ISO in Windows. If you boot your server from the ISO, you canNOT perform an in-place upgrade. - Michael238Views0likes1CommentRe: Windows Server 2025 is generally available as of Nov 1!!
I just checked another WS2022 server in my lab and I also do NOT see that link. I'm speculating that Microsoft made a mistake and unintentionally sent that notice to upgrade to Windows Server 2025 in Windows Update. I guess they jumped the gun... - Michael1.2KViews0likes3CommentsWindows Server 2025 is generally available as of Nov 1!!
Sweet! Build 26100.1742 is the final, 'RTM'. Available for download now on M365 Admin Center website (formerly VLSC) and other official download locations. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-server-2025 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/windows-server-release-info https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/whats-new-windows-server-2025 Happy downloading, installing...in-place upgrading! 😉 - Michael5KViews4likes13CommentsBuild 25921 - Windows Activation GUI broken?
It would appear in Build 25921 that the GUI interface (Windows Settings) for Product Activation is broken. If you click on the link on the System -> About page, nothing happens. I was able to activate my Datacenter desktop experience build by going to Terminal (Nice addition!) and type in: slmgr.vbs /ipk aaaaa-bbbbb-ccccc-ddddd-eeeee I of course typed in the correct prerelease product key. After a few moments, it worked! I imagine this is a known issue... - Michael1.1KViews4likes3CommentsTask Manager - View -> Update Speed does NOT work
This has been present in builds of post-Windows Server 2022 for as long as I can remember. Just installed 25236 fresh from ISO, as I have done many times in the past. Open Task Manager. Click View, click Update Speed, and change it to anything other than 'Normal.' It does not stick. The setting does not change. Could someone from Microsoft please reproduce this and acknowledge this bug exists on this build channel? Thank you. 😉 - MichaelSolved1.5KViews1like4CommentsProblems (again) downloading latest ISO (25099)
I have tried downloading the latest 25099 released today several times. It took quite a bit for the download to even start. Now, I've tried it at least 5 times. It gets anywhere between 1.1GB and 1.5GB and says it's done. But, it's clearly not. The ISO is about 4.6GB. Anyone else having this issue? Thanks. - MichaelSolved1.4KViews0likes2CommentsAnyone else having a problem clean installing 25083?
I just downloaded the latest ISO for today's 25083 Server preview build. I did the SAME thing by going to one of my Hyper-V VMs, configuring it to boot from DVD, and putting in this ISO as the boot ISO. When I press a key, it never loads the normal Windows Setup screen, it goes to a recovery window. Anyone else? Thanks. - MichaelSolved1.4KViews1like5CommentsWill WSL 2 be available in Windows Server 2022?
Ever since build 20251 or so, we are unable to essentially utilize WSL 2 on WS 2022. I just installed 20339, installed WSL using 'wsl --install' (which works beautifully!). I rebooted. When I run this command: wsl --set-default-version 2 It just spits the main help text as if you typed 'wsl -help'. Can anyone from MS let us know if WSL 2 will be available and supported when Windows Server 2022 ships in the fall? Thank you! - Michael5.9KViews4likes3Comments
