Re: Blur Background on Mac OS
tate4771_ski The main discussion in this thread so far was: "do background effects work on older machines with only AVX1.0?". Formerly, this was not possible, but Microsoft enabled this featute now even for older Macs. As you have the "background effect" button, it seems you have another issue. Seems to me like some problems with your installation or perhaps wrong permissions. I would try to deinstall and reinstall Teams. Sorry, I can't support more in your case.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: Blur Background on Mac OS
tate4771_ski If I look at your screen shot, you have the button for "background effects" (I circled it red). What happens, if you disable/enable the "background effect" (middle) button? What happens if you disable/enable the "camera" (left) button?6.1KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Blur Background on Mac OS
tate4771_ski To test it on my Teams version (1.3.00.23764), I did the following: - In the bar on the left hand side, click on "Calendar" - In the top row, click on "Meet now" (just to the left of "+New meeting") - Now activate the camera; you should see yourself. - On my screen, between the camera on/off button and the mute on/off button there is the "background effects" on/off button. This works now even on my MacBook Pro, where "sysctl -a | grep -i avx2" returns "hw_optional.avx2_0: 0". Hope this helps.6.1KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Blur Background on Mac OS
_vyom_ Just to let you know: With version 1.3.00.18164 blur and backgrounds work now even without AVX2. If I execute "sysctl -a | grep -i avx", my older MacBook Pro returns "hw.optional.avx1_0: 1, hw.optional.avx2_0: 0" (=AVX1.0 yes, AVX2.0: no). But it can blur now, what it did not offer in a previous version 🙂12KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Blur Background on Mac OS
ericsar The authors of the „yices“ app provide two sources: one with AVX2.0 instructions (the dafault) and one without AVX2.0 instructions. So the yices app users are happy as the authors provide an alternative for old HW. However, this does not help for our background blur unless MS provides an AVX2.0-free solution as well.16KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Blur Background on Mac OS
doug4772 Both of my macs reported in "machdep.cpu.features" only AVX1.0. I executed this command sysctl - a | grep avx On one mac (blur disabled) I got hw.optional.avx1_0: 1 hw.optional.avx2_0: 0 On another mac (blur enabled) I got hw.optional.avx1_0: 1 hw.optional.avx2_0: 190KViews0likes8Comments
