Project for the web non-Default environment
Hi, A customer moved a project for the web data from default environment to a non-default environment. as expected they are noticing some different behaviour. they are very disappointed and cannot understand why is that the case (but thisis for a different discussion) the issues they are having at the moment and i hope someone have had some creative solution for those When a team member is added to a project a group is created, they get the email from group or project, but the link direct them to the accelerator of the power apps P4W instead of the original experience they were having where the link direct them to the typical P4W page Permissions with that group added all users are added to the restricted group where they can delete projects, they are aware of the plugin but still cant get over the shock that something as basic as this require a custom plugin I hope im missing something and there are solutions for both cases !125Views0likes1CommentRe: Documentation on the use of PowerAutomate for Workflows in MS Projects
To clarify, I assume you’re asking about moving from Project Online to Project for the Web. While both are Microsoft tools, there are significant differences between them. Project Online (the older tool) was built for enterprise-level users who need comprehensive, high-end project management features. In contrast, Project for the Web is designed for smaller teams focused on task organization. Although Microsoft is actively working on adding new features to Project for the Web, they've made it clear that it won’t achieve full feature parity with Project Online. In short, if you need the robust capabilities of Project Online, transitioning to Project for the Web may not be suitable. However, there are alternatives within the Microsoft ecosystem that could meet your needs. One such option is Projectum PowerPPM, which offers a range of enterprise-grade project management features.175Views0likes1CommentRe: Documentation on the use of PowerAutomate for Workflows in MS Projects
There are no "official" documentation and Microsoft message about using Power Flow is not accurate and frustrating since there are no connectors that can control project online phases and stages. however Brian Smith wrote a series of blog post that might help you in that scenario https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project-support-blog/using-power-automate-for-project-lifecycle-workflows-in-project/ba-p/4111518 however the recommendation is you should start considering a replacement for Project online.245Views0likes3CommentsRe: History export
Gongi1625 Hi, You are correct that data is stored in the project history, and in theory you should be able to report on it, the challenge you will face is, this is not a reporting table so the details of the change are not presented in a format that you can use directly. in the table you will find everything you need to create the report The project The task The edit Type the timestamp however the details of the change or what changed are stored in a field called details an example below {"fields":{"start":{"previous":"","updated":"2024-09-12T09:00:00Z"}}} I believe that is Jason and you need to work on it within PowerBI to convert it.282Views1like0CommentsRe: Task Start and Finish dates not in synch with Assignments view
Hi , which version of MS project are you using ? are you using manual scheduling for the tasks, what is the task type also can you confirm the view you are using, i tried to perform the same actions using the resource usage view and the dates did move to cover the dates of the work567Views1like6CommentsRe: Project for web - task cost
As Dale mentioned the feature is not there, and it's not on the current Microsoft roadmap for project and planner! you have one of the following options 1- you can extend Project for the web using PowerApps, you can set costs using custom columns, but they will not show in the MS UI and you have to use a PowerApps grid (its not very user friendly) 2-Use an alternative partner product that can offer the features you are looking for they won't be as expensive or demanding as project operations, and you are still within the Microsoft platform387Views0likes0CommentsRe: Connect MS Project Server 2016 to SharePoint Online
as far as i know it will not be a simple out of the box configurations, you will need a custom solution on primes to trigger a custom provisioning engine online and you can configure the site the way you want, however this comes with the following caveat, those sites are not directly connected to your projects for example if you add a risk and issue lists to those sites project online will not be aware of them. The Project site link on the navigation will not link to the site you will need to do some sort of a workaround. I hope that answers the questions !330Views0likes0CommentsRe: Project Plan 3 - Project for the Web
colegwu13 in the first couple of photos that is Project online not project for the web. i recommend you start from this https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/project-training-63f1db89-1ee0-4113-bedc-03fc5ec6223a you should get good idea about POL and P4W and hopefully you get a start. I would recommend reaching out to a partner a PPM consultant who can guide you with the initial setup. regards Malek328Views1like0CommentsRe: Microsoft Project REST API
ok thank you, so you want to bring Actuals from the 3rd party timesheet app into Project server, in this scenario i wouldnt look into the planned work in the assignment i would look into the timesheet API, configure the Timesheet in POL , then use the REST API to 1-Create resource timesheet for the period 2-Create the Lines 3- add the actual time 4-submit the TS with that the actuals can be imported to the Project plans818Views0likes1CommentRe: Microsoft Project REST API
i thought you are only looking to find the effort in a specific day, the only thing i can think of at the moment is this page about the rest API endpoints, in the https://github.com/akordowski/Project-Server-Resources/blob/master/Project%20Server%20REST%20API%20Endpoints.md section of the page should give you a starting point, keep in mind some of those resources are really old. can i ask you what is the end goal you have in mind ?1KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Project for the Web navigation inside the Project Power App
Hi Folks, similar to Project online and other products, a view is not a security role or restriction , those views are simply configured with a built-in filter if owner = current user. to achieve that you need to modify the permission roles within the power platform but as far as I'm aware this feature is not there yet !226Views0likes0CommentsRe: Critical tasks on Gantt chart view on SharePoint project Site
HI, as Dale mentioned, since you are using the out of the box Task list in the project site template that sync is not available to us to configure or change, so if the critical path or any field is not in available unfortunately you don't have much options when it come to the site. we built something to achieve this requirement (i want to see it all in one place) but we did it in reverse, we rollup all the SharePoint data to PWA and then we display it all in project detail pages382Views0likes0CommentsRe: Actual start date vs Start date
the way MS project work is once you have set an actual start or finish it will also set the start and finish to reflect a realistic planning, if you want to preserve the dates you have to set a baseline and with that baseline when you set actuals you get variances and it open up the door to more cool information about your project 🙂 hope that helps306Views0likes0Comments
