How can I test the new Windows 365 App?
I've been using a Cloud PC since around the time they became available a year ago. In order to test out new capabilities (and in hopes that this could fix a USB redirect issue I've been having) I just installed the new Windows 365 App Preview on my Windows 11 laptop. I am able to see my Cloud PC in the app, but in all truth, it works no differently than if I were to access Windows 365 from a web browser. Are there pre-requisites that need to be configured to use the new app? If so, what are they (I haven't been able to find any setup documentation beyond the instructions to get the app from the Store). Thanks in advance!939Views0likes1CommentScanner shows as "Unknow Device"
We are currently running Windows 365 Enterprise with the Windows 365 Security Baseline (preview) November 2021 version in MEM and when we try to use USB attached scanners, we are unable to connect to them from our Cloud PC's (Windows 10 or Windows11). At this point we're not doing any USB setting configs via GPO. I'm wondering if a GPO is needed or if there are settings in the security baseline that need to be adjusted. Right now I have set the Device Installation -> "Block hardware device installation by setup class" setting to No (just set that this morning so there may be a delay with propagation) and the DMA Guard -> "Enumeration of external devices incompatible with Kernel DMA Protection" option set to Block All. Not sure what DMA protection is, but see that the option is "On" on my laptop and "Off" on my Cloud PC. Thanks in advance for any pointers!826Views0likes1CommentRe: TimeZone Issues Windows 365 Cloud PC
Yes, according to the MS tech the issue is due to the inability to support the timezone redirect setting from Mac and Android devices via the desktop app, if you connect using the web client it should work but then you loose other functionality... I was hoping to replace the majority of our desktop computers with lower cost Chrome devices, but it appears that isn't going to be an option until (if/when) MS can figure this little issue out but that doesn't seem to be a concern for them right now.9.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: TimeZone Issues Windows 365 Cloud PC
I opened a ticket with Microsoft and they indicated this is happening because "Location" redirect isn't supported on Android or MAC. I asked for an explanation of why the time is correct via the web client but not the remote desktop app and am awaiting a response (will post here when I get something back). They did send me a powershell command to run on the cloud PC that will set the timezone, but as you noticed, it always changes back to GMT 00:00 so it would need to be run every time a connection is made to a cloud PC or as a scheduled task (unless I'm missing something) which is something I don't really want to do.9.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: TimeZone Issues Windows 365 Cloud PC
And the plot thickens. From a Browser connection to my Cloud PC on a Chrome device, the time zone looks and acts "right" but, without signing out, I reconnected to my Cloud PC using the Remote Desktop App on the same Chrome device and the time zone is wrong again...10KViews0likes0CommentsRe: How to access internal company resources with Windows 365?
We had the same requirement; to get it working, I used a virtual network that was already setup in Azure with access to our internal network resources when I created the "On-Premises Network Connection" in Microsoft Endpoint Manager... Note that the users need to be in the On-prem domain for now (according to a response to one of my questions, that may change after the first of the year).6.3KViews1like0CommentsTimeZone Issues Windows 365 Cloud PC
Anyone having issues with time settings in Teams running on a Windows 365 Cloud PC using anything other than the Microsoft Remote Desktop Application? From a Chromebook with the correct time zone set, the Cloud PC reverts to a GMT -12 setting every time I reconnect. I have tried setting the time zone via GPO and Intune, but nothing "sticks" (also have users with MAC clients experiencing the same issue).11KViews1like18CommentsRe: Combine Windows 365 Business with Windows 365 Enterprise and a Resize Question
EricOrman - thanks for the follow up/reply. I figured out the resize issue. I assigned the license via Office 365 Admin so a new device was provisioned in MEM. After removing the license (and the device that was provisioned by that action) I was able to do the resize in MEM. -Jim1.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Combine Windows 365 Business with Windows 365 Enterprise and a Resize Question
EricOrman - thanks for the info! Looking forward to the release!!! I couldn't find any details on the roadmap, is there any estimate when the AADJ feature will be ready? Also, is there anywhere you can point me regarding the resize issue I'm having? -Jim1.5KViews0likes2CommentsCombine Windows 365 Business with Windows 365 Enterprise and a Resize Question
Is it possible to run both Enterprise and Business cloud PC's? We have an on prem domain but a large portion of our users are "cloud only" and I need the ability to manage everything via MEM if at all possible. If it's not possible what are my options to get our cloud only users setup with Cloud PC's (kind of sounds weird when you read that)? Also, is anyone able to resize a cloud PC? I have the appropriate licenses in place (although it's unclear what I need to change to be able to resize) but when I select a PC to resize and pick the appropriate level, I keep getting and error in Azure that says Initiate Rezise (preview) failed, no details are available in the logs so I'm stuck. Thanks in advance!1.7KViews0likes4Comments
