How to create a working recovery image for a Surface Pro 8 (for Win 11)?
As I had to learn a few days ago the recovery image of my Surface Pro 8 apparently got replaced(maybe when upgrading my Surface Pro 8 from Win 10 to 11?) with a version that does not work on that device. Specifically, when bringing up the Windows Recovery Menu, neither the type-cover keyboard, nor screen-touch nor the BT mouse works. It is thus impossible to navigate the WinRE menu. :-( I can only force-power-off the device and reboot (which luckily still works fine).
As long as my system boots, everything is fine but there is absolutely no safety-net underneath anymore! If anything goes wrong with my system, none of the Windows repair and recovery options will be available (since one can't select them from the menu...). As a burned child I find that situation deeply troubling!
Thus my question: how can one create a "winre.wim"-file that contains all necessary drivers so one can operate the Windows Recovery Environment on a Surface Pro 8? The remaining necessary steps (like disabling and re-enabling WinRE, replacing the "Winre.wim"-file in my system's recovery partition with a different version, etc.) I know how to do.
But how does one "bake" an MS Surface Pro 8 - specific recovery image for Windows 11 with all required drivers (specifically with functioning drivers for the type-cover keyboard and allowing to attach USB devices)?
