Office Upload Center documents not uploading to SharePoint

Hello,

I've recently been seeing an issue where documents are failing to upload to our SharePoint 2013 on prem site. We are using Windows 10 with Office 2016. 

Steps that cause the error:

1. Go to SharePoint > Document Library
2. Open > Edit > Save > Close any Office Document (Excel, Word or PowerPoint)
3. File failed to upload error appears

Now the Office Upload Center is a part of our Office 2016 suite and the default settings for the upload center as shown below. 

All of this use to work with these default settings and we noticed the issue started to occur around October 2019. 

The only work around I've found is to clear the cache and set it to do this by default. (Screen shot below)

After the settings were set like this it seems to fix the upload issues and documents don't get stuck in the upload center.

I cant help but wonder why this started happening all of a sudden nor do I know what windows / office update may have caused this issue to occur. Has anyone else seen this sort of thing happen or has any more information on the topic?

Also repairing Office 2016 didn't fix the issue.
