open resource pool read-write

Every time I open my master project, Project asks if I would like to open my resource pool to see assignments across all sharer files.  Sure, that sounds like a good idea, right? (I don't share with anyone else, anyway).  But then it opens the Resource Pool Read-Only.  In what instance would I ever want to open it read-only?  My best option seems to be to answer "No", don't open the file, then open the file myself, but then I get another dialog asking if I want to open read only.  Finally, at that point, I can choose to open read/write and open my resource pool.  Why is it so difficult?  is there a way to just open both files read/write the first time project asks the question?
