Microsoft Planner Issues
Hello Everyone!
I have been using planner for the last few months. Its really a good tool and it seems to be competing with Trello and the likes of it.
But the only few issues I found in the planner are
1. The copy of card from one bucket to another, one board to another deletes the comments, attachments, etc - this seems to be going on for many years and @microsoft is not hearing about this issue
2. The Move of card from one bucket to another, one board to another deletes the comments, attachments, etc - this seems to be going on for many years and @microsoft is not hearing about this issue
3. If we use any tools to update the image, it doesnt show in the preview. Sad again its an old issue which Microsoft is not paying attention to
4. Alerts on comments, status change, etc to the creator of the card or user assigned to never appears. I think its there when a card is assigned to and comments are made ? sometime works and not most of the time
5. Status is rigid Not started, complete - no flexibility to increase or modify them
6. Can you believe in the Microsoft world of products you cannot @ to add user ? Yes, this is an issue
Hopefully our prayers are heard by Microsoft one day or they are struggling with this one more sharepoint spinoff!!
I would like to request our Sharepoint and Power Automate Professionals fellow members to share some solution or work around for these pain points until we get a solution or upgrade from Microsoft

Hi Kumar_Venkatesh,
I understand your concerns about Microsoft Planner. It’s a good tool, but like any other, it has its limitations.
1. and 2. Copying and Moving Cards: It seems that when a card is copied or moved from one bucket or board to another, the comments and attachments are not retained1. This is indeed a limitation that has been noted by users.
3. Image Preview: If tools are used to update the image, it doesn’t show in the preview1. This is another known issue.4. Alerts on Comments and Status Changes: Confirm that notification settings for the board are configured correctly. Encourage team members to check their notification settings in Planner to ensure they are set up to receive alerts for comments and status changes.
5. Status Flexibility: The status options in Planner are currently limited to “Not Started” and “Complete” with no flexibility to increase or modify them.
6. User Tagging: The inability to use “@” to add a user is a limitation in Microsoft Planner. If you would like to you can send a feedback request to Microsoft in Microsoft Planner:
- Click the Settings icon
- Under "Planner" click "Send Planner feedback".
- This opens "Send Feedback to Microsoft"
- Click on "I have a suggestion"
Or you can make a feature request on Microsoft Feedback Portal:
