Guests in Planner

Is there a way to add someone to Teams or to a Planner as a guest if they do NOT have a license?

Hi @Mongrain,

To add a guest to Teams, you must first add them to the Microsoft 365 group associated with the team. Once they have been added to the group, they will receive an email invitation to join the team.

To add a guest to a Microsoft 365 group, you must be a group owner. To add a guest, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
  2. Click Groups.
  3. Click the name of the group that you want to add the guest to.
  4. Click Members.
  5. Click Add members.
  6. Enter the email address of the guest that you want to add.
  7. Click Add.

The guest will receive an email invitation to join the group. Once they have accepted the invitation, they will be added to the group and will be able to access the team.

Adding guests to Planner

To add a guest to Planner, you must first add them to the Microsoft 365 group associated with the plan. Once they have been added to the group, they will be able to view and interact with the plan.

To add a guest to a Microsoft 365 group, you must be a group owner. To add a guest, follow the steps above.

Adding guests to Microsoft 365

To add a guest to Microsoft 365, you must be a global administrator or a user administrator. To add a guest, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
  2. Click Users > Active users.
  3. Click + Add a user.
  4. Under Guest user, click Invite guest.
  5. Enter the email address of the guest that you want to add.
  6. Click Invite.

The guest will receive an email invitation to join Microsoft 365. Once they have accepted the invitation, they will be added to Microsoft 365 and will be able to access the resources that you have shared with them.

Guests Permissions

Guests have limited permissions in Teams, Planner, and Microsoft 365. They cannot create or delete teams or plans, and they cannot manage other guests. They also cannot access sensitive information, such as company financial data or customer lists.
