Thread - individual email printing

Copper Contributor

Is there anyone who can help?

I used to be able to print individual emails. For example, if there was a conversation back and forth, I would be able to go into my emails and click on part of it ie a reply and print just the reply. Or just click on the inbound message and print just that.

Now, it prints out the entire thread. I did two support chats and a screen share and they are telling me that there's no other option, it's not a thread, now it's just one email.

I don't know how in March I was able to print out a reply or an inbound and now you can't.

I have tried to check all the settings and they look okay.

Does anyone have any suggestions'?

If you are experiencing issues with printing individual emails in Outlook 365, it's possible that the conversation view settings might be affecting the printing behavior. By default, Outlook groups related emails into conversations, and when you print an email within a conversation, it might print the entire thread.

Here are some steps you can try to print individual emails instead of the entire thread:

  1. Disable Conversation View:
  • In Outlook, go to the "View" tab on the ribbon.
  • Under the "Conversation View" group, uncheck the "Show as Conversations" option.
  • This will disable the conversation view, and your emails will be displayed individually.
  1. Print from Reading Pane:
  • Open the email you want to print in the reading pane (preview pane).
  • Right-click inside the email body and select "Print..."
  • This should open the Print dialog with the selected email content only.
  1. Open the Email in a Separate Window:
  • Double-click on the email you want to print to open it in a separate window.
  • Go to the "File" tab in the top-left corner of the window.
  • Click on "Print" to open the Print dialog box and select the print options.
  1. Print Selection:
  • Select the specific text you want to print within the email.
  • Right-click on the selected text and choose "Print..." from the context menu.
  • This will open the Print dialog with only the selected text.

If you have tried the above steps and still cannot print individual emails, it's possible that there might be a setting or configuration specific to your Outlook account or organization that is affecting the printing behavior. In that case, you may want to reach out to your IT support for further assistance.

Additionally, make sure that your Outlook and Office 365 applications are up to date, as software updates can sometimes address known issues and improve functionality.

@NikolinoDE Hi. I am just using Outlook mail in a browser. I couldn't get them to print from my app either. I'll try your steps today. Thanks for the help!
