Outlook for Mac -

When I try to delete an email Outlook immediately goes into downloading and brings back the deleted email. I have to delete at least 3 times to get rid of the unwanted email.

I have also lost all my old emails on gmail and hotmail which have disappeared. I can find them by going online but this is very cumbersome and slow. 

Suggestions, help, please
