Not receiving incoming e mails but can send

Hello,  I do not know if I bought into a scam.   Have not received any emails since Monday, July 19,2021.  I can compose and send.  I received an e telling me that I had to upgrade and ignored it then I rec notice that as of that day my account would become inactive so I clicked on the link, entered my e addy and password and was told my info was verified.  "
