Missing emails in my inbox and loads of junk mail

Since Christmas the emails in my inbox keep disappearing and I am also receiving loads of junk mail. I have checked my account to see if there is a reason for this but everything looks good and I have tried deleting and re-opening my email account. It is driving me mad! Can anyone help me?
