Insert -> Shapes & Text box in Outlook new version

Copper Contributor

Am I the only one missing the entire Insert option in Outlook ..

Generic corporate communications includes shapes, text boxes and other objects -Which we were able to use in old versions of Outlook .. the New version looks to miss the entire set of options under insert tab.

Appreciate your help here

Stating the obvious, this feature is not available - yet.  Microsoft hasn't given a release date yet, but some previously missing features were added to New Outlook and OWA last week. In the meantime, I suggest giving Microsoft feedback on the missing features and how you use them.

Its been a year. Just checking in, as of recently the toggle old outlook option has been removed entirely for me and now im stuck with a software that at every turn, is missing core functions impacting my work.

Shapes and text boxes have not been added to New Outlook, and I don't see them on the roadmap. I had hoped the Draw functionality would support shape and text, but it does not.

I can offer some "workarounds" that you may already know about.

  • Copy/Paste shapes and text boxes from PowerPoint or Word
  • You can use the Emojis in New Outlook but cannot overlay text on the shapes. See the image below.
  • Use the Table feature in New Outlook and add color and text to the table cell.
