Does cascading style sheet (specifically, box-sizing and column class) not work in outlook?

Hey community!

I am figuring out how to build grids side by side in outlook using cascading style sheet (CSS) and HTML.  Attached find sample open source code from W3 school for this purpose (or refer this link for same sample code and intended outcome. https://www.w3schools.com/css/tryit.asp?filename=tryresponsive_cols).  However, when I deployed it in outlook, I was unable to get the intended outcome (my result was one grid/block on top of the other, refer attached word doc for visual clarifications).

Please advise if there are known limitations of outlook to deploy CSS specifically box sizing or col class? Thanks much in advance for your kind attention and time!
