Can't send email with Thunderbird thru outlook.office365.com

Hi Frederik

I created a new profile, set up it under Exchange/Office365 with the add-on OWL.
I try to send a email test and the error message is :
"Login to server outlook.office365.com with username (my email address) failed.

At this point I do not know what to do. Everything works perfectly except the sending part. 😞

Is it in your case mandatory that you use the OWL plugin? (to get your data over OWA)
Isn't the current 'standard' option possible?

This page talks also about the same error you receive.

In case you need to use the OWL plugin; are u using the latest version? (currently 1.3.3)

Hi

I found the solution.
It appear that on the Microsoft dashboard, the admin must enable "authenticated SMTP".
It's lost on the middle of Microsoft configuration dashboard for a company set up.
Basically, there is a web page where the admin has to enable the following :
- Outlook on the web
- Outlook Desk version (MAPI)
- Exchange web services
- Mobile (Exchange ActiveSync)
- IMAP
- POP
- Authenticated SMTP

Then it works.

    Indeed, but for my understanding it was not clearly explained that it is on the admin dashboard.
    Some screenshots are always welcome 🙂
