After replacing profile, Outlook won't open

I'm running Outlook 365 on a Mac. I was having problems with outlook not indexing correctly, so I followed the instructions to pull my profile into Spotlight and then delete it so that Outlook would reindex. Now, however, Outlook won't open at all. When I try to create a new profile, Outlook fails in copying old entries into the new profile. What do I need to do?
