The joint use of OneDrive on different platforms.
For work reasons, I need to use OneDrive on both Windows and macOS. In order to ensure the convenience and convenience of file synchronization and access between the two systems, I separately purchased a large-capacity SSD hard drive, which I set to only store the OneDrive for business folder. My purpose is to enable the macOS system and the Windows system to quickly access, store, and modify the files in OneDrive for business, and enable the applications under these two systems to be quickly synchronized.
However, the current macOS system disk space is limited, and my OneDrive files will be very many, it is impossible for me to place the OneDrive folder in the macOS system disk, so when I want to set the location of the OneDrive files in the macOS system When the macOS system disk, I found that this idea can not be realized at all.
After installing OneDrive under the MacOS system, you cannot place the OneDrive folder in a location other than the macOS system disk anyway!
After communicating with your customer service, the customer service said that since I chose the file system of macOS is NTFS, it is naturally not possible to write under OSX, but can only be read and viewed.
In other words, when OneDrive was first developed, it did not consider the possibility that users may use the same OneDrive file under both the Windows system and the macOS system.
This will cause me to be unable to use OneDrive quickly and conveniently in macOS. I can only find a place to place OneDrive files in the extremely limited macOS drive letter! And this approach is equivalent to a complete copy of the OneDrive folder, which is actually a very wasteful way.
I believe that in the future, there will be more and more users using OneDrive in both macOS and Windows systems. If they want to use a single large-capacity drive letter to place OneDrive files, and both Windows and macOS can read them at the same time, this will change. It's not feasible-they are bound to encounter this problem.
I hope that OneDrive developers can realize the seriousness of this problem, think ahead and solve this problem, so that users with both Windows and macOS systems can use the same drive letter to read, store, and modify OneDrive files at the same time.
Thanks!
