Now in public preview: Expanded Reactions

Microsoft

Description

Expanded Reactions is now available in all chats and channels! Users will have the whole range of emojis available to use as message reactions. Browse 800+ emojis to add a quick expression or a response to any message. Limited no more to a simple thumbs up or heart, users can now choose from a multitude of emoji options for every emotion or symbol. Go beyond with expression using expanded reactions!

Consider using reactions to collect quick information through voting or to gather status updates. For example, use number emojis to vote on options in a poll. If you’re discussing a new task, add the eyes emoji to say you’re looking at the task, the writing hand emoji to say you’re working on it, or add the check mark emoji to say you’re done.

Flighting status

Available to everyone in public preview now.

How to enable

There is no action required to enable update to reactions in Teams. Expanded reactions will automatically be available to all users in messaging.

After applying the reaction you’ll see it applied to the message below. You can hover over the reaction to see a list of who reacted.

Note - you will see a selection of recent reactions you have used. This is a default list until you submit more reactions of your own that will rotate them out.

Note 1: If you need information about enabling the public preview itself, see “Enable the public preview for Teams” below.

Note 2: Only users who want to add expanded reactions need to be in public preview.

The reactions feature will have an adjusted hover menu to accommodate the new expanded reaction menu. The reaction summary and list will also be moved from the top right of messages to the bottom left to accommodate for the wider range of reactions available to users. However, users will still be able to use and see the previous reactions in Teams.

@Jan_Steberl hi there, are there any plans to make this reaction feature available on the Desktop application?
