With the realities of hybrid work in front of us, we’ll be navigating through new experiences where we’ll need to accommodate the needs of workers who will re-enter the office and those who will remain remote. Effective collaboration will be more critical than ever with hybrid work models – evidencing the need for collaborative apps that provide the flexibility to work from anywhere, on any device. And so we’re excited to share that Microsoft Teams apps built for meetings are now also supported on mobile with iOS and Android. Let’s jump into how you can use apps in your Teams meetings on mobile for more engaging and collaborative experiences.
Teams apps in meetings across the entire meeting lifecycle
Last November, we were thrilled to announce the general availability of Teams apps in meetings for desktop. With apps in meetings, you can customize your Teams experience by integrating your apps directly into the way you work – before, during, and after a meeting. Now, with support on mobile, you can stay in the flow of work with apps through your preferred mobile device.
Tabs to use before and after meeting
Just like the desktop app, you can access the meeting app via a tab before and after a meeting – to prepare for a meeting or follow up on action items after a meeting.
In-meeting panel to interact with app content during a meeting
During a meeting, you can interact with the content and capabilities of an app through the in-meeting panel. For example, with a polling app, you can view all the different questions asked during a meeting and submit your answers from within the meeting.
In-meeting notifications to engage with each other in real-time
A new content notification shows up as a banner on the top of your mobile screen to inform you about a new activity. By clicking on View, you can further drill in and interact with the content. This helps you and other meeting participants stay engaged with the meeting.
Continuous improvement
We’re excited about this release on mobile and will continue to improve the experience of apps in meetings on mobile going forward. To start experiencing the above features, please be sure your Teams app on your mobile device is updated to the latest version (Android – 2021031702; iOS – 2021032701). With this release, the meeting organizer will still need to attach the app for the meeting via desktop – and while third-party app developers begin configuring their apps to enable these features, we ask for your patience as not all apps may be available on mobile immediately.
We’re thrilled to see you enjoy apps in meetings on mobile and will continue to build out these features going forward!
