Option to create sandbox unavailable - MS-500 Security Associate Admin Course

Copper Contributor

Good day,

I am trying to work through the Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate and hit a snag right at the first exercise. I am not being prompted to create a sandbox. When I use the Azure Active Directory link it does take me to portal.azure.com, and it shows me as signed in, but I do get an authentication error. Please see the attachments.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm a couple modules in and am seeing the same problem. It gives the points, but there is no way to actually do the exercises.
You need to select the Concierge subscription and make sure you are in the correct directory - see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/support/faq?pivots=sandbox
You need to sign into Learn to be able to activate a Sandbox

Can you provide the URL of the exercise you are following
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/certifications/exams/ms-500

Trying to do any of these learning paths, and I am signed in. I'm several modules into the first one and it isn't giving a sandbox option, but it is giving a lot of links to Azure Portal that result in me not having access due to not paying for Azure, and not having been able to start a sandbox because no button is present. I see nowhere mentioning a Concierge subscription.

This was the first exercise, links to the portal, no sandbox mention.
OK it looks like there are no sandboxes on the Microsoft 365 learn modules like there are on the Azure modules.
It looks like these modules https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/modules/create-configure-manage-identities/ were written for instructor led training where you are provided with lab environment and tenant.
Your options are:
1) Create a Microsoft 365 E3/E5 trial
2) Sign up for a Microsoft 365 Developer https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/dev-program https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/enterprise/office-365-e5

@JMcDonald907 as suggested by @Julian Sharp I ended up using a developer box.  It wasn't a perfect fit as some of the presets were not available but it definitely was close enough to accomplish the exercises.

Thank you @Julian Sharp for finding the answer as to why it wasn't working.  When I was doing this course last year I reached out to several Microsoft divisions and no one could answer the question, they would just sent me along to another division.

Weird, they gave that course as an alternative to instructor-led, you'd think they'd have configured them for such. I wonder if they'll go back and fix it. I've been reporting the pages at the bottom, but it won't give feedback on any action taken in response.
