Bulk Join Wifi/external nic Issue

Copper Contributor

I am Fresh when it comes to In-tune specifically and Entra. This is a Mostly fresh Unconfigured Setup of Both. I did successfully join Some devices to Intune but only through that devices internal ethernet nic not any other method with the same device. If the device has an internal ethernet nic there are no issues with enrollment with the internal nic, but i have several devices with no internal ethernet nic

I am trying to join a bunch of (sp9) Surface pro 9s (purchased sans auto pilot("wont make that mistake again")). They do not have ethernet NICs, so i immediately tried wifi config with WCD. When that failed i tried a usb hub with a NIC and a dedicated usb nic, both failed.
Next i tried joining one of our dell laptops wifi/usb c hub/usb c nic/usb a nic, all failed till i used the internal nic fine. I was able to ping 8.8.8.8 from the OOBE cmd (with internal/external ethernet nic).
When i try to provision via wifi the logs on the network show the devices did obtain an ip address and push their newly configured host-name to the network so it did connect to the wifi successfully.

I also have a normal dell laptop that has also failed enrollment do to no internal ethernet nic.

Hi @Aryno4672,

while the devices successfully connect to the network and obtain an IP address, the enrollment process fails, and various error codes are recorded in the logs.

These error codes suggest potential issues with authentication, token operations, cache partitioning, account enumeration, browser SSO data format, task management, policy creation, and Azure AD join.

To address these issues, you can use the following general troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check Network Connectivity:
Ensure stable internet connectivity for the devices throughout the enrollment process.

  2. Update System:
Confirm that the devices, Intune, and Entra are all up-to-date.

  3. Re-Enroll Devices: Try unenrolling the devices from Intune and Entra, then re-enroll them.
