End of basic authentification and web site
hello,
In few month it will be the end of basic authentification for O365. On my website, we send emails.
We use smtp.office365.com on port 587 (or 25) like recommanded here : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/mail-flow-best-practices/how-to-set-up-a-multifunction-device-or-application-to-send-email-using-microsoft-365-or-office-365
So, that will not work anymore ?
How we can send emails from website with modern authentification ?
thanks
- Looks like you are using the SMTP Auth method
You can find the latest update here https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/basic-authentication-deprecation-in-exchange-online-may-2022/ba-p/3301866
where it says "We are not turning off SMTP AUTH. We have turned off SMTP AUTH for millions of tenants not using it, but if SMTP AUTH is enabled in your tenant, it’s because we see usage and so we won’t touch it."
But I recommend reading the whole post to understand the impact and prepare for long-term- Eric LE CORREBrass Contributor
Ok thanks a lot
And also, i use IIS SMTP relay connect to office 365. So no trouble with that also ?
it use basic authentification- I recommend checking the sign-in logs to understand if that one will be affected
"How do you know you are still using Basic Auth? Azure AD sign-in events is the best place to look (filter by client app, then in the client app filter, check the boxes for the affected protocols under Legacy Authentication Clients). Check out this post for more info."
